A Washington Post columnist who took a nosedive with her sharp criticism of Kamala Harris's economic proposals has been reigned in and is now back on message.
Catherine Rampell broke party lines with a brutally honest piece about the centerpiece of the Democratic nominee's policy, the imposition of price controls that would be enforced by federal bureaucrats in the form of a ban on “price gouging” that many they suggested it looked a lot like communism. .
Rampell herself used the C-word in her column titled, “When your opponent calls you a 'communist,' maybe he's not proposing price controls?” in which he stated, “It's hard to overstate how bad Kamala Harris' price hike proposal is.”

“If your opponent says you're a 'communist,' you might not start with an economic agenda that can (accurately) be labeled as federal price controls,” he wrote.
He also went on CNN Friday and dropped another bombshell on Harris' economic agenda, noting that price controls have only brought misery where they have been implemented.
MUST BE KEPT
CNN just DESTROYED Kamala Harris' economic agenda.
“We've seen this kind of thing tried in many other countries before. Venezuela, Argentina, the Soviet Union … it leads to scarcity” and “would cause a lot of harm.” pic.twitter.com/pFEMYDjpN0

“We've seen this kind of thing tried in many other countries before (Venezuela, Argentina, the Soviet Union, etc.), it causes shortages, black markets, a lot of uncertainty,” he said.
But later in the day, the toady Democrat walked back his criticism of Harris, doing a complete 180, and is now praising the “Kamalot” queen just days before she's formally crowned in Chicago.
Yes, there was still some silliness in his speech, but his comments on prices were more toned down than the campaign briefing sheets sent to reporters (punishing companies that raise prices above their costs, etc. .). A generic call for increased antitrust enforcement is fine and I support it https://t.co/HF97UxxMq8

She was against it before she was in favor, and came under heavy fire from X users for her recall with a barrage of stones thrown by Harris' left-wing supporters.
Didn't you go on CNN and say their proposals were Soviet-style communism?
Having a problem with consistency or veracity?

You literally wrote this shit: “If your opponent says you're a 'communist', maybe don't start with an economic agenda that can (accurately) be labeled as federal price controls.” Now 12 hours later you're like, “it's ok and I can handle it” LOL!

Everything you did in this process was fine. You have reported things fairly. It's impossible to know, but it may be that your + other informants + the response it provoked encouraged the muted comments. (I know that's not your goal as a journalist, but that might be what happened)

Eat your pathetic excuse for a reporter. MAGat enabler https://t.co/ZdkpJOSUu7

You specifically caused a lot of people to jump on her prematurely.
I doubt it was your intent, but your “hot take” today is a prime example of the media holding Harris to a ridiculously high standard compared to Trump. I hope you stop and learn from today.

Quite a response from someone who put zero effort into understanding Harris' actual positions before going crazy online. https://t.co/dk8KqfNs4l

This is why the media is so insufferable: you simplify a message so that it comes across in a simple way that most people connect to and the media cries “no detail”. Give extensive details and it's “elitist, too awkward”. And then what is lost is any political discussion. epic fail

“It's hard to overstate how bad this policy is. It is, in all but name, a broad set of price controls applied by the government to all industries, not just food. Supply and demand would no longer determine prices or profit levels. Distant bureaucrats in Washington would.” Rampell wrote in his piece.
