'The View' Co-Hosts Go to Defense as GOP Gov Talks Biden Drops Out of Race

Anxious about the “elites,” the co-hosts of “The View” were put on the defensive by the Republican governor's elimination of Vice President Kamala Harris' coronation bid.

Far from an ardent supporter of former President Donald Trump, New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu joined the daytime TV harpy Thursday where he wasn't shy about expressing his enduring displeasure by the Republican candidate. Despite this, the executive recognized the will of the people, since he himself had agreed to support the winner of the primaries, a point that the Democratic Party called after replacing President Joe Biden with Harris.

“They voted for Biden to be president, and then it wasn't like he was sent to the convention, and then the delegates had a choice or whatever for him, a couple of elites…” stated the governor when co-host Sunny Hostin. he interrupted to argue: “He already has 2,000 delegates.”

Undeterred by the interjection he added to his point about elites choosing the nomination for voters, Sununu continued: “There were three phone calls from Schumer and Pelosi. Biden said I'm on this, I'm not I'm leaving. A couple of phone calls are made and suddenly he's kicked out and within 48 hours all delegates aren't given the chance to choose other candidates, they're told you're going to be behind from Kamala.

Up until that point, reports had indicated that Senate Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) had repeatedly engaged Biden in a “good cop” routine , bad cop” which included alleged subpoena threats. the 25th Amendment to kick him out of the White House if he refused to suspend his re-election campaign.

Refusing to accept Sununu's premise that the party known for upholding democracy had acted in a wholly undemocratic manner to prop up a candidate who had previously ended his own bid for the White House when he failed to garner support before the 2020, Whoopi Goldberg called out other high-profile figures who had stayed out of a slap, speed dating style primary before the start of the Democratic National Convention on August 19.

“The other options decided it was the best option,” Goldberg said. “Newsom said I'm not going to challenge this. The people decided who was going to challenge and said no, we're not going to challenge her.”

For his part, Goldberg also refused to use Trump's name, earning a jab from Sununu, who later referred to the GOP leader as Harry Potter villain Voldemort.

Flipping the script, the governor discussed how he would have been received if the leaders of the Republican National Committee had decided to forego the popular will and nominate his preferred candidate from the primaries, former ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley.

“We're just going to do it [install] Nikki Haley now,” suggested his hypothetical scenario of Trump suffering in the polls. “That would be horrible. Because the voters have to decide.”

While co-host Joy Behar seemed to miss the point, apparently relishing a path that would see the former president sidelined while enjoying head-to-head competition for the White House with women leading the charge, Goldberg spoke out about the continued Sununu description of decision makers.

“Stop calling them elites,” he insisted while the governor agreed to describe them as “insiders.”

Still, Hostin was unmoved by the guest's arguments, suggesting that the vote for Harris had gone through because she was on the ballot as vice president: “They voted. They voted. They voted for Harris for vice president. And the delegates want her as a nominee.”
