The 'Snow White' actress can't help but create more headaches for an already troubled remake

-

“Snow White” star Rachel Zegler is facing backlash again, this time for siding with the anti-Semites who have been harassing her co-star, Gal Gadot.

At issue is a series of tweets Zegler posted after Disney released a trailer for “Snow White” this week.

Check out the tweets below:

Notice how he wrote “free Palestine” in the second tweet. This has been interpreted by many as an attack on Gadot, an Israeli-born actress who has been a staunch supporter of Israel in the Israel-Gaza conflict.

“Gadot has defended her home country from anger and criticism following the October 7 Hamas massacre that killed an estimated 1,500 people in the country.” Fox News notes “Last year, the actress headlined the Hollywood screening of a 47-minute video of the atrocities committed by Hamas during the October 7 surprise attack on Israel.”

Because of Gadot's role in “Snow White,” the film has faced a boycott by pro-Palestinian fanatics, and by releasing “Free Palestine,” Zegler appeared to be tacitly supporting the boycott, critics said.

But why? Some said it's just jealousy. Others said otherwise.

See some of the audience's responses below:

Tablet Magazine deputy audience editor Isaac de Castro was even more critical of Zegler.

“I could have turned that role down instead of starring alongside Gal Gadot,” he said he tweeted. “Nor could he have worked with Spielberg, who handed him his leading role.”

“Instead, she'll tweet petty insults directed at her co-star to obscure the fact that she can't even stand by her own principles when it's inconvenient for her career,” he added.

But the harshest criticism of Zegler has come from Israel's Consul General in New York, Ofir Akunis, who attacked her during a radio talk show interview this week, she said. Ynet.

“I can't stand it, it's ridiculous,” she said of his views. “The shame, really. And if he wants to boycott Israel, if he wants to boycott Israeli culture, it's incredible, it's ridiculous.”

“And I'm appealing from here, to all American citizens, to buy tickets to Gal Gadot's next movie,” he added.

This is the second time Zegler has caused controversy since “Snow White” was announced. As previously reported, despite starring in the film, he has talked about it endlessly in the press.

Most recently, he accused the original Prince Charming of being a creepy stalker. He also said he “hated” the original “Snow White” and thought the story was “weird.”

And finally, Zegler stated that the new “Snow White” will not be a traditional love story but rather a story about the empowerment of women.
