Hunter Biden was hired by a Romanian oligarch in 2015 “to attempt to influence United States government agencies,” according to federal prosecutors.
Those stunning allegations by special counsel David Weiss' team were revealed in a court filing filed Wednesday in Biden's high-profile federal impeachment case.
Weiss' team said in the filing that one of Biden's former business partners will soon testify about a deal he made with Romanian oligarch Gabriel Popoviciu, who at the time of the deal was facing bribery charges and corruption at home He was later convicted of real estate fraud in 2017.
Weiss' team said they will soon show evidence that Biden and his former business partner “received compensation from a foreign director [Popoviciu] that he was trying to influence US policy and public opinion and get the United States to investigate the Romanian investigation [Popoviciu] in Romania”.
NEW: Prosecutors say Hunter Biden was hired by Romanian oligarch Gabriel Popoviciu “to try to influence US government agencies,” but the deal was structured to avoid FARA because Hunter was concerned about “political ramifications” for @JoeBiden. https://t.co/0io0xK2lq1 pic.twitter.com/yjYP2Jz2Tt

In the court filing filed Wednesday, Weiss' team accused Biden and his former business partner of agreeing to help Popoviciu through the deal.
However, to avoid getting into trouble with the law and causing “political ramifications” for Biden's father, who was vice president at the time, Biden and his associate structured the deal to “hide the true nature of the work that was performing”. “, according to prosecutors.
In other words, they lied to avoid getting into trouble and all so they could earn an estimated total of $3 million spread between 2015 and 2017.
The good news for Biden is that Weiss intends to let the violation of the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) slip.
“The government does not intend to address the allegations that the defendant violated FARA or improperly coordinated with the Obama Administration,” Wednesday's filing says.
“Despite that […] The government will introduce evidence that Business Associate 1 structured a business relationship in an effort to avoid having to register as a foreign agent and that the defendant and his business associates did contact government officials, specifically with the United States Department of State. keep on.
SWR previously released emails showing that Hunter brought in political heavyweight and family friend Louis Freeh to use his contacts with US law enforcement to benefit Popoviciu, and as a result he was offered a reference rate. pic.twitter.com/XwvAxEBcYu

These new allegations will be added to the allegations that Biden is already facing.
“Hunter Biden is accused of failing to pay $1.4 million in taxes between 2016 and 2019 while also filing false tax returns,” it said. Fox News. “He allegedly used the funds to live lavishly, including spending millions of dollars on drugs, escorts, luxury cars and other high-priced items.”
He faces three felonies and six misdemeanors in the tax case so far, though new charges now appear likely.
Prosecutors say the new allegations are relevant to the tax case because they show “his state, mind and intentions” during the period he failed to pay his taxes.
“It is also evidence that the defendant's actions do not reflect someone with diminished capacity, given that he agreed to attempt to influence US public policy and receive millions of dollars,” the filing says.
All of this comes months after Biden was convicted of felony charges for illegally purchasing a gun in 2018 after lying on a gun purchase form. He is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 13, at which time he faces up to 25 years in prison, though he is likely to receive much less time, if any.
In response to these ground-breaking allegations, critics questioned why they are now seeing the light of day:
So is it safe to report on the Biden crime family now?

Biden's use for them has expired, so “reporters” can finally discuss these things

It's almost as we knew it years ago. I guess now that Biden isn't running again, it's okay to argue that Hunter is in violation of FARA.

Are we expected to blindly accept that this is being pursued now a week after Biden is no longer running as a coincidence?

These underlying facts have been blatantly obvious for a long time. But I like to see Weiss's office finally put it in black and white for the public to see.
