International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach suggested there is no scientific way to differentiate between men and women during a press conference on Friday.
Eligibility rules by gender have been a point containment at the 2024 Paris Olympics, with Italian boxer Angela Carini pulling out just 46 seconds into her fight with Algerian fighter Imane Khelif. Perhaps as a result, Bach was asked on Friday whether the committee would conduct a review of its gender reassignment guidelines, to which he said there was no concrete, scientific way to tell men from women .
“We said from the beginning, if someone presented us [a] scientifically sound system how to identify men and women us [the IOC] they are the first to do it,” Bach told reporters. “It's not as easy as some in this cultural world want to portray it: the XX or the XY [chromosome] it is the clear distinction between men and women”.

“If climate change continues in the way experts predict, it will be very difficult to organize the Olympics in the summer, in August,” Bach said, according to SI.
