Lansing, Michigan – The city of Lansing has released body camera footage that provides a startlingly clear picture of an officer-involved shooting. This dramatic incident unfolded on Wednesday, January 10 at a residence on W Saginaw Street, a stone's throw from Durant Park.
Lansing police, responding to a house call in cooperation with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, were searching for a parole violator who had brazenly fled from deputies a few days earlier. The suspect, Zachary Duling, and a witness were in a car parked in the driveway when officers arrived.
The harrowing footage captures the chilling moments when officers sternly ordered Duling to show his hands. Ignoring their pleas, this reckless offender slammed on the gas pedal, recklessly reversed the vehicle before lurching it mercilessly forward, striking Officer Robert Olson, a brave seven-year veteran of the Lansing Police Department, lower body.
