A new poll has been released with results so shocking that some are questioning the veracity of YouGov America's findings.
According to the British polling company, 54% of Americans, including 24% of Republicans, support the Colorado Supreme Court's decision to impeach former President Donald Trump presidential primary vote in 2024.
“Approve or disapprove of the Colorado Supreme Court's ruling that Donald Trump cannot appear on the ballot in the state's 2024 Republican presidential primary because his actions leading up to the January 6 Capitol takeover of 2021 amount to an insurrection or rebellion against the United States?” YouGov asked 3,493 Americans on December 20, just one day after the court explosive opinion.
% who approve/disapprove of the Colorado Supreme Court ruling
US Adults: 54% / 35%
Democrats: 84% / 8%
Independents: 48% / 35%
Republicans: 24% / 66%https://t.co/BAD7TgXWJD https://t.co/8VirfErcWb pic.twitter.com/PZ2Pd5IZ6w— YouGov America (@YouGovAmerica) December 20, 2023
Note that this is the same polling firm that, just a month ago, reported that Trump has a 40 point advantage between Republicans and independents over the second-place candidate, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
While few are surprised that 84 percent of Democrats support Colorado's democracy-destroying decision, the realization that a quarter of Republicans support it is head-scratching.
Blaze Media host Steve Deace, who has extensive experience with primary polling, suggested that either Trump's popularity has been inflated to detract from the DeSantis campaign or the current poll is biased to benefit the agenda of the democrats.
“YouGov says 54% approve of Colorado Marxists getting Trump off the ballot, only 35% disapprove,” Deace wrote in X. “But YouGov also gives Trump a 43-point lead in the Republican primary, so it has been declared fair.”
“What we do?” it exploded. “I suggest ignoring what doesn't fit our narrative.”

Others blamed YouGov for the “god awful” wording of their question.

YouGov's unique survey method may have something to do with the disturbing results.
In accordance with Influence Watch“YouGov has 20 million members worldwide that it surveys, along with 1,600 staff in 39 offices.”
The company “engages respondents by handing out 'points' that can be redeemed for cash and gift cards. Selected respondents can join YouGov Pulse as 'panelists' to earn extra points.”
“While most polling companies survey random individuals to avoid selection bias, YouGov's polling model is based on tracking the same people's changing preferences over time,” explains Influence Watch. “YouGov panelists are repeatedly used for polling, and the polling data is correlated with a large amount of political and non-political information polled from these panelists.”
The current YouGov poll finds that while a majority of Americans may support the Colorado decision, a majority, 62%, also believe the decision will be taken by the US Supreme Court.
% who think it is very or somewhat likely / not very or not at all likely that the US Supreme Court will make its own decision on the matter
US Adults: 62% / 16%

Republicans: 66% / 16%https://t.co/5FFJ2bOU4j pic.twitter.com/cSk8x3AZJo— YouGov America (@YouGovAmerica) December 20, 2023
If SCOTUS reviews the case, 43% of Americans, including 34% of Democrats, believe the Colorado decision will be overturned.
% who think that if the US Supreme Court were to review the decision of the Colorado superior court, it would reverse the decision / uphold the decision
US Adults: 43% / 23%

An X user suggested another question YouGov should ask its panel of respondents: “Do you approve or disapprove of someone telling you who you can vote for? Try this.”

Try this one
