The media's “correct” claim that Trump praised Walz after the BLM riots leaves out a GLLAR detail.

-

The latest line of attack by Democrats and their corporate propaganda media allies against former President Donald Trump is, as usual, obfuscation.

According to corporate propaganda media, then-President Trump praised Vice President Kamala Harris' running mate, current Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, during the 2020 Black Lives Matter riots.

This, according to the corporate propaganda media, means that the Trump campaign's current attacks on Walz's overall handling of BLM's violent riots are hypocritical and therefore not to be taken seriously.

There's just one problem with all of this…

what is true

True, Trump did at a given moment praise Walz

“I know Governor Walz is on the phone and we talked, and I totally agree with the way he handled it the last few days,” Trump said in a recorded phone call with governors on June 1, 2020 , according to a recording of the call obtained and published by ABC News.

“I'm very happy with the last few days, Tim,” Trump continued. “You called big numbers and the big guys knocked them out so fast it was like bowling.”

Which is not true

The insistence of Democrats and their media allies that this little clip proves something is simply not true.

talking with ABC NewsTrump campaign spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt explained that Trump only praised Walz after he finally, after days of letting the riots fester, take the then-president's advice and call on the National Guard to quell the riots.

“Governor Walz allowed Minneapolis to burn for days, despite President Trump's offer to deploy troops and cries for help from Minneapolis' liberal mayor,” Leavitt said.

“In this daily briefing call with governors on June 1, days after the unrest began, President Trump credited Governor Walz with finally taking steps to deploy the National Guard to end the violence in the city,” he added.

ABC News hesitantly admits some of this in its report.

“Walz … ultimately called in more than 7,000 guards in the Twin Cities. But that decision came 18 hours after Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey initially asked the governor to activate military personnel,” the network states.

What's important is the delay between Frey asking for the governor's intervention and the governor finally, after Trump pushed him, taking action.

“This vacillation cost Minnesotans lives, communities and livelihoods,” he said a research report compiled by Republicans in the Minnesota State Senate.

“Governor Walz and his administration were more concerned with the 'current environment', the 'climate they were in', 'community and cultural concerns' and 'diversity and inclusion training' than stopping the riots that were destroying Minnesota,” the report continues.

“While the riots were ongoing, Governor Walz had a philosophical debate in private and on live television. Governor Walz, Mayor Frey, the Minneapolis City Council and the Commissioner of Public Safety debated whether to have more officers and the Minnesota National Guard on the streets would increase violence,” the report added.

In response to ABC News' reports, critics were quick to note that it doesn't prove what the network would have you believe it does.
