The illegal aliens are allegedly part of an ongoing robbery ring in suburban Chicago

A Chicago suburb is being hit by a series of retail thefts and robberies allegedly led by illegal immigrants who have formed a criminal ring targeting businesses … in particular Macy's.

The crime streak is in progress at Oak Brookaccording to Police Chief Brian Strockis, who he spoke with Fox News. Police have arrested 47 illegal immigrants since October. The suspects are believed to be part of a much larger robbery ring.

Many of the robberies have occurred at Macy's in an Oak Brook mall.

“On Jan. 13, Jaime Ubaldo Obando-Andrade, 32, allegedly tried on a $395 jacket at the department store and left without paying for it, according to a news release from the District Attorney's Office State of DuPage County, Bob Berlin,” New York Post reported

“Police found approximately $3,000 worth of suspected stolen property in Obando-Andrade's car, as well as rolls of aluminum foil and a fake driver's license,” the outlet said.

The authorities claim that would-be thieves cleverly line bags with aluminum foil to avoid theft-detection devices.

“Agents also found an ICE electronic monitoring device that allegedly hacked Obando-Andrade, according to the State Attorney's Office. Obando-Andrade was denied pretrial release,” added the New York Post.

“These retail crimes involving migrant offenders are part of a larger criminal enterprise, and we are working closely with our federal partners to thoroughly investigate these cases,” Strockis said in the statement.

Many of the suspects appear to have come to Chicago from Venezuela or Ecuador. They reportedly wasted no time after arriving and went straight to work stealing items for the ring.

“In October, Venezuelan migrants Luis Mendez-Gomez, 28, and Frank Montez-Davila, 23, were arrested after allegedly stealing nearly $3,000 in high-end cosmetics from Macy's and [were] granted pretrial release,” the New York Post wrote.

“A week earlier, another pair of Venezuelan migrants were arrested and charged with robbery and retail theft after separately stealing clothing from the store, authorities said,” the outlet continued.

“We want everyone to be aware of that increase in criminal activity of the migrant community from Chicago,” Oak Brook Deputy Police Chief Reid Foltyniewicz warned, according to the New York Post.

Chicago is as blue as it gets for a sanctuary city. Democratic leadership there has gone to great lengths to prevent federal authorities from investigating crimes by illegal immigrants. The police also cannot ask about a person's citizenship status. The city has received approximately 34,000 migrants since 2022, and crime statistics have risen at the same time.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, who is a Democrat, is now asking the feds to help control illegal immigration at the border.

“Without real and meaningful investment from our federal government, it's not just the city of Chicago that will be unable to sustain this mission,” Johnson told CNN in an interview. “It's the whole country that's at stake now.”

Someone is capitalizing on illegal immigrants needy and is recruiting them for the robbery gang by offering them money to steal.

“Twenty-one people were accused of shoplifting from DuPage County stores in the first two weeks of 2024 alone, according to the Berlin office,” the New York Post reported.

Democratic Gov. JB Pritzker is now literally begging Texas Gov. Greg Abbott for “mercy” to stop transporting migrants into his state.

Berlin says that under the SECURITY Act, most of these criminals are being released, according to FOX 32 Chicago.

No doubt many of them will return to the robbery network because they need the money and the crime wave will continue.
