The group advocating to “abolish” ICE received millions of taxpayer dollars

-

A group advocating to “abolish” Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) received roughly $125 million in federal funding for refugee resettlement, according to a new report from Open the Books.

The Church World Service (CWS), which he tweeted label “AbolishICE” in 2021, received funding from the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) through grants from fiscal year 2013 through 2023, according to the 'report obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation. The group has advocated for defunding ICE to overturn the detention and deportations of illegal aliens.

“Instead of providing excessive and immoral resources for the inhumane treatment of immigrants and asylum seekers, the United States should put those resources into programs that expand our ability to welcome immigrants with dignity and respect that everyone deserves,” CWS. said in September 2022.

So has the Biden administration associate with CWS to launch Welcome Corps, a program that allows Americans to sponsor refugees, in January 2023 and previously tapped the group to lead the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) Case Management Pilot Program to monitor immigrants il ·lawyers awaiting their court dates in the US

“As America's foreign policy failures have piled up, an already disastrous situation at our southern border has been exacerbated. Would-be migrants from an ever-widening range of countries are trying to enter the country by any means necessary,” said Adam Andrzejewski, founder and CEO of OpenTheBooks.com, in a statement shared with the DCNF.

“From Afghanistan to the Ukraine to the infamous wave of Haitians crammed under a bridge in Texas, the message coming home is: come to America. Entry is easy and the benefits are plentiful once you're there arrived. Grant giving in particular is a powerful magnet for more people to keep flooding our borders; who would turn down not just a free lunch, but a head start on a new life?” Andrzejewski said.

CWS did not immediately respond to DCNF's request for comment.
