Harvard University removed several web pages from the Department of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) website, according to the web archive.
Two web pages, titled “Heritage Months and Recognition of Identities” and “Gender identity and pronouns at Harvard,” appears to have been deleted, according to the archives. Both links now route directly to the Diversity and Inclusion home page.
“As part of Harvard's commitment to creating an inclusive environment that welcomes the diversity of individuals and fosters belonging and equity, the University invites you to select your gender identity and add pronouns,” this latest webpage says .
A downloadable file titled “Fundamental Concepts and Affirmative Language” attached to the Harvard Pronouns webpage also appears to have been removed. seconds at its archived link. The website defined words like “heteronormativity,” “woman” and “white fragility.”

Heteronormativity is defined as “the assumption that everyone is heterosexual and that heterosexuality is superior to all other sexualities” and a woman is defined as “a black feminist or feminist of color” who “appreciates and prefers the culture of women,” according to the archived link. . White fragility describes “the privilege of white people living in a society that protects and insulates them from race-based stress.”
The calendar displayed on the Heritage Months and Identity Recognitions webpage includes events such as LGBTQ+ Pride Month, Disability Pride Month, Latino Heritage Month, and “Transgender Day of Remembrance,” according to the archived link.
“Celebrating the stories and contributions of historically marginalized identities, Harvard commemorates Heritage Months and Identity Recognitions throughout the year. These recognitions are an opportunity for everyone in the community to learn more about the traditions, the people, scholarship, history, and current experiences of those who have overcome oppression to create opportunity for all,” the description reads.
Harvard came under scrutiny after its president, Claudine Gay, rejected to say during a December 5 congressional hearing whether the calls for genocide violated school codes of conduct. Since then, University of Pennsylvania President Liz Magill, who also attended the hearing resignedwhile Gay leftovers in his position.
Harvard and Harvard's DEI department did not immediately respond to DCNF's request for comment.
