The CNN analyst was shocked when he was scolded for being too casual in reference to Kamala Harris

Debates over how to pronounce Vice President Kamala Harris' first name appear to be sending Democrats into repeated crises.

And now, the way even the vice president is referred to has become a problem.

A “CNN NewsNight” panel heated up over alleged “disrespect” when a panelist referred to the presumptive Democratic nominee by name.

CNN analyst Coleman Hughes was scolded by CNN contributor Cari Champion on Monday during a chat about Harris' presidential campaign. As Hughes referred to her as “Kamala” on more than one occasion, Champion interrupted her to remind him and his collaborator Solomon Jones to be respectful of the woman who was crowned as her successor. of President Joe Biden without winning anyone's vote.

“Can we call her vice president, too? You talk about her as carefully and casually as if you knew her, and I think she deserves respect,” Champion said.

“Well, I don't always say President Biden when I say Biden,” Hughes noted.

“If we continue in the media to just call her Kamala or whatever name you just called her, it sends a disrespectful message and so I think she needs the title and I think she deserves respect,” Champion, clearly obsessed. with the little things, pontificated.

“I think you're reading this message, it's not an intended message from me,” Hughes replied.

Harris' name drama was another on the network that saw a panel on “Anderson Cooper 360” about the correct way to say the vice president's first name.

“Listen, I don't want to attack Kamala Harris as an individual,” said CNN's chief political commentator David Urban.

“That's not his name! That's not his name. Stop, stop, stop, stop. Stop,” interrupted CNN political commentator Bakari Sellers, having a meltdown.

“Shame on you Bakari! Because you know me better than that, so shame on you,” Urban replied. “I'm saying let's talk about his record.”
