A group of local citizens and experts held a press conference Tuesday to declare a state of emergency with Georgia's state election system.
During the press conference, participants “presented a wealth of evidence and expert testimony that exposed the flaws, vulnerabilities, and irregularities in Georgia's electronic voting system and census returns that have affected Georgia's elections since 2020”, as reported. Armed with this evidence, participants argued that Georgia's current electoral system cannot be trusted due to the state's reliance on electronic voting machines and corrupt electoral rolls:

As a solution, participants recommended that the state governor and the State Board of Elections declare a state of emergency and implement some much-needed reforms.
Reforms such as the use of poll books and emergency ballots for the upcoming 2024 election, as well as conducting a full hand count before the final results are certified.
During the press conference, a speaker said that the state of Georgia owes former President Donald Trump an apology.
“Georgia owes President Donald J. Trump an apology,” the speaker said. “President Trump has been indicted by Fulton County”.
“May I remind you that Fulton County has violated election law not once by manual auditing, but twice by machine counting, and now we can show that they had intentional human intervention, which is the predicate of the elections. fraud,” he added.

According to CNN, the press conference led to a beautiful result: the Georgia State Board of Elections approved a new rule that gave “county boards of elections the authority to demand more information, including the ability to make inquiries, before certifying the results of the elections”.
The board “also approved, on a 3-1 vote along party lines, a motion to increase the number of poll watchers who can observe the tabulation process in Georgia's 159 counties.”
The chairwoman of the Republican National Committee, Lara Trump, was pleased by the development.

The board's vote came days after former President Trump praised three board members — Rick Jeffares, Janice Johnston and Janelle — during a campaign rally in Atlanta.
Leftists were not happy with the rule changes. In fact, according to Recorder of Georgiaa left-wing news site, several left-wing groups had urged the board to vote against the rules, including Citizens for Accountability and Ethics in Washington, Fair Fight Action, the ACLU of Georgia, Common Cause Georgia and the Public Rights Project.
Georgia NAACP President Gerald Griggs was particularly displeased, arguing in a statement that it is unwise to make changes to election rules in the middle of an election cycle.
“The focus should be on ensuring a smooth and transparent election where all eligible voters can participate without unexpected obstacles,” he said. “Stability and consistency in election rules are crucial to maintaining the integrity of our democratic process. True electoral integrity would be not allowing the 'big lie' to change election rules and procedures.”

The “big lie” is a pejorative used to describe efforts by Republicans to raise concerns and challenge the results of the 2020 presidential election.
Left-wing groups oppose Georgia's new rules because they say they will delay the voter certification process. Republicans, of course, say delaying the process is worth it if it means greater election integrity.
The kind of electoral integrity Georgia conservatives want is seen in Virginia, where Gov. Glenn Youngkin recently ordered the 2024 presidential election to be conducted solely by ballot.

“Virginia's model for election security is working. This is not a Democrat or Republican issue, this is an American and Virginian issue,” Youngkin said in an announcement, according to Fox News. “Every legal vote deserves to be counted without being diluted by illegal votes or inaccurate machines. In Virginia, we don't play games and our election security model works.”
