The armed teacher springs into action when he hears a teenage girl screaming for help outside his home

-

David Garza is the epitome of a good Samaritan after he took drastic measures to save a teenage girl who was attacked right in front of her home.

Garza, a high school teacher in the Houston area, was at home a little after midnight on July 28 when he heard screams coming from the front of the house. When he looked out the window, what he saw prompted him to take immediate action.

“I looked out the window and saw a man knocking a woman to the ground … trying to take her clothes off,” he said. KHOU11.

He grabbed the firearms and ran out the door, where the doorbell footage captures the tense moment.

“I ran out and asked what was wrong. The girl screamed, 'I'm 15, help me!' I pointed the gun at her and told her to get off her,” the teacher continued.

Apparently, the young woman had been followed by the man after getting off the METRO bus and he was grabbing her by the hair when Garza intervened.

“She immediately took her hands off. He chased her, I chased him and she ran away,” explained Garza.

A neighbor credits the teacher with having saved the teenager from the unthinkable.

“At first, I was afraid, I thought she would be raped. I think that if she hadn't come out, she would have been raped”, said the neighbor.

Crime Stoppers victim advocate Andy Kahan also praised Garza, but questions whether the suspect has tried this before and whether he will strike again.

“If he's willing to do this, I'm wondering, is this your first time? We need to get you off the street.”

Garza also revealed that this is not the first time he has reached out to help a child in danger.

“I think it's something anyone else would have done – come and help a kid.”

The suspect was reportedly seen wearing a black hoodie with a white Reebok logo, blue jeans and white tennis shoes, and anyone with information is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 713 -222-TIPS (8477) or send it online to www.crime-stoppers.org. There is a $5,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest.
