Teenager admits throwing flagstones during Liverpool riots

-

A 15-year-old boy has admitted throwing a slab at a spectator during the recent riots in Liverpool. The boy, who was identified from CCTV and TikTok footage, is one of many people facing court appearances for his part in the national unrest. The teenager had been on police bail at the time, with a condition banning him from entering the city centre. He has been granted bail again, with the same conditions, until his sentencing on September 17.

Meanwhile, arrests have been made in West Yorkshire and Cheshire in connection with alleged riot-related social media posts. In Liverpool, footage shows the boy removing his jacket and shirt before throwing the slab at a member of the public during the violent disorder in the city centre.

In Middlesbrough, 28 suspects are due to appear in court charged with violent disorder following a riot on Sunday. Six people are also due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court after violent scenes outside a hotel hosting migrants in Rotherham.

In Lancashire, three men from Blackpool have admitted their role in the violence. One of them, a 32-year-old man, was remanded in custody after admitting possession of an offensive weapon and is due to be sentenced on September 16.

In Bristol, a 36-year-old man is due to appear in court in connection with a violent disorder in the city centre. In addition, eight people have been charged over disturbances in Nottingham city centre.

Earlier today, a 28-year-old man was charged by West Yorkshire Police with using “threatening words or behavior with intent to incite racial hatred” in relation to alleged Facebook posts. In Cheshire, a man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated harassment with intent to cause fear and violence.

Recent riots erupted across the UK following a stabbing attack that left three girls dead in Southport. Misinformation circulating online suggested the suspect, born in Wales, was an asylum seeker who arrived in the UK by boat.
