Ted Cruz is unwilling to compromise on whether McConnell should run for re-election

-

Between the brain freeze, the RNC's failure to support America First candidates, and his unwavering support for sending taxpayer dollars to other nations, you'd think Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas ) would have an opinion on whether Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, 81, should seek re-election if Donald Trump, with whom the octogenarian has “bad blood,” wins the White House.

But when given the opportunity on Fox News' “Sunday Morning Futures” to discuss the idea of McConnell running again, Cruz was Switzerland.

“You know, I don't know,” he told host Maria Bartiromo. “That's a decision for Mitch to make.”

“Obviously, there's a lot of bad blood between Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump,” Cruz continued. “Mitch will have to make that decision.”

“What I want to see is I want to see Republicans in the Senate stand up and lead and fight,” he added.

AX, some couldn't believe their ears.

McConnell aside, Cruz is optimistic about the 2024 election.

“I think November is going to be a very good election. I think we're going to see Donald Trump re-elected as president of the United States,” he told Bartiromo. “I think we're going to see Republicans maintain and grow our majority in the House, and critically, I think we're going to win the U.S. Senate.”

He described his Lone Star career as a “battlefield.”

“I will say that my career here at Texas is a battleground career,” he said. “Democrats are spending over $100 million. Chuck Schumer has made it clear that I am their No. 1 target. George Soros is pouring millions of dollars into the state of Texas.”

Because he's “the top target for Democrats,” he reminded the Fox News host, he only won his last race “by less than three points.”

If re-elected, Cruz promised that he would “continue to fight for the rule of law, for the Constitution, for the Bill of Rights.”

“And,” Cruz said, “I will continue to fight to secure the border, even as we see these radicals undermine our security.”

Meanwhile, McConnell launched a statement last week stating that the “Senate faces [a] test of American leadership.”

“From the first days of Vladimir Putin's escalation in Ukraine, America's closest allies and partners have been paying close attention,” he said. “From halfway around the world in the Indo-Pacific, our friends have made it clear that in the struggle of the Ukrainian people, they see their own future.”

“[O]Your allies and partners are not naive,” McConnell said.

They know, he said, “that neglecting Ukraine's struggle to restore its sovereignty increases the costs of defending its own.”

“Our partners do not have the luxury of pretending that the world's most dangerous perpetrators are someone else's problem,” he continued. “And neither do we.”

“So today, it's no exaggeration to say that the eyes of the world are on the United States Senate,” he said. “Our allies and partners expect the indispensable nation, the leader of the free world, to be determined to continue. And our adversaries expect something very different.”

In other words, America, don't worry about inflation, our southern border, or the migrants that are invading our nation, we need to send our money to Ukraine and Israel.

“The United States did not give our best generation to the fight against Nazi Germany or devote half a century of focus and resources to defeating Soviet Communism simply out of a sense of altruism,” McConnell said. “And today we are not helping partners resist authoritarian aggression out of a warm, fuzzy feeling of charity.”
