The shooter, 19-year-old Christos Alexander, was found outside with his mother. The footage captures a deputy urging the mother to leave the house and ordering the teenager to keep her hands up and not reach for the gun, allowing the mother to approach officers. Alexander reportedly shot his mother and fired at 26-year-old Deputy Shane McGough.

Five deputies shot at Alexandre, who later retreated to the house and barricaded himself. The HCSO SWAT team, crisis negotiators and a robot were deployed to gain access to the residence, where the deceased father and Alexander were found.

Sheriff Chad Chronister praised the actions of the deputies in assisting Deputy McGough and stated that Alexander had a history of altercations with his parents, requiring the intervention of law enforcement on ten previous occasions.

Sheriff Chronister cited an active risk protection order against Alexander, which led to the seizure of his guns, and noted the ongoing investigation to determine how the firearm used was obtained. Deputy McGough underwent surgery to remove the bullet from his leg and is expected to make a full recovery.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the incident and Sheriff Chronister asked for prayers for Deputy McGough's recovery.
