Surfing star Mikala Jones dies aged 44 after board accident

surf star Michael Jones has tragically died… after part of his surfboard severed his femoral artery during a freak accident over the weekend.

It all happened at Awera Resort in North Sipora on Sunday Surflinewhen the fin of Jones’ surfboard appeared to cause a large gash near his left groin.

The outlet reports that medical personnel rushed to Jones’ aid, rushing him to the hospital … though he was unfortunately pronounced dead there from his injuries.

He was only 44 years old.

Her daughter, Isabellamourned his death in an emotional Instagram post later Sunday … writing, “I’m not sure how to put it into words, but my dad had a bad surfing accident and didn’t make it. I’m glad he was. doing what he liked best.”

“Life will never be the same without you,” he added. “I miss you so much, I would do anything to have one more moment, even if it was just us arguing and then laughing our asses off. Thank you for teaching me so many life lessons and always being there for me. I wish you. they were still here with us right now. I will always think of you dad ❤️”

Jones, a native of Hawaii, started surfing at a young age…and eventually gained fame for his ability to ride through massive tubes in dangerous conditions. He also stood out for the way he filmed his rides, earning praise from Surfline as “one of the most photogenic surfers of the 21st century”.

His death has been mourned by many in the surfing world… included Kelly Slatershe wrote in Jones’ most recent Instagram post, “Legend. 💔.”
