Slugga: Ron Johnson rips FBI over Trump probe: 'They think they're above the law'

It's been a month since former President Donald J. Trump was nearly assassinated, and there are still very few answers as to how such an inexplicable security failure could have happened.

Republicans in Congress have been trying to get to the bottom of what happened at Trump's rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, but they aren't getting much help from the FBI, which one senator suggested is holding back its investigative efforts.

During a Sunday interview on “The Cats Roundtable” radio show on New York City's WABC 770 AM, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) told host John Catsimatidis that the FBI is acting as if was “above the law” by eliminating Congress. of the loop on the investigation of what came within an inch or so of the first successful assassination of a major party candidate since 1968.

“Unfortunately, I think our congressional investigations will very well end up in an investigation of the FBI and Secret Service investigations,” he said. “We are not given access to people in a timely manner,”

Johnson told the host that federal law enforcement agencies have been “pissed off” about the assassination attempt when a 20-year-old sniper somehow allowed himself to set up a rooftop with a clear line of sight 150 meters from Trump.

“Since then we've been there for four weeks [the attempted] murder and there are basic facts that we don't know because the FBI, the Secret Service, are the law. So they think they are above the law. They don't believe they are accountable to the American public because they have never been held accountable by Congress and the American public,” he said.

The senator said Congress has yet to receive information about the autopsy of Thomas Matthew Crooks, who was taken down by a Secret Service sniper after he narrowly missed blowing off Trump's head on television in direct and just touched his ear.

Johnson also said that while local law enforcement said one of their officers shot Crooks, the feds have yet to acknowledge it or release information.

“That's why we have to interview these snipers, because the acting director said the sniper didn't have him in his sights for a split second before he fired,” he told John Catsimatidis. “It's funny, isn't it, that the acting director didn't credit local law enforcement for firing a shot that could have deterred or ended his shooting.”

Last week, Johnson shared a clip of an interview with Fox News host Jesse Watters where he also discussed the feds' lack of cooperation.

“Federal agencies are behaving as if they are not accountable to the American people,” he wrote to X. “Due to their limitation, we will likely be stuck with their investigation. This is NOT the way to convince the American people -American who are told the truth.”

The job isn't getting any easier for Johnson and his fellow lawmakers as the shocking near miss has largely disappeared from the disinterested media now that they have “Kamalot” to sell to the masses .
