Seattle police asked for the public's help after graphic footage captured two separate incidents of vehicles careening into pedestrians.

Nearly two weeks after the unidentified suspects went on a rampage reminiscent of the game “Grand Theft Auto,” Seattle Police Chief Adrian Diaz released the details to the public, hoping to identify perpetrators and victims.
“The Seattle Police Department is investigating two separate hit-and-runs that I am very concerned about,” Diaz said in a video statement released Friday. “Our detectives recently obtained videos of the brutal crimes that occurred in Aurora. In each video, the driver targets and hits pedestrians at random.”
“Tonight I'm asking anyone with information to come forward,” the chief added.
“Hit this b*tch, hit this b*tch,” a passenger could be heard saying in the first video taken from inside a vehicle before the driver swerved to hit a pedestrian crossing the street.
SPD release details explained“Detectives discovered surveillance footage and cell phone footage of one of the vehicular assaults. On November 26, 2023, at 1:50 a.m., the video shows a vehicle targeting a woman and hitting- intentionally on North 107th Street, west of Aurora Avenue North.”
“Several people can be seen helping the victim before a car pulls up, puts the woman in the passenger seat and drives away,” he continued about the multiple angles of the first incident.
The second incident was captured on footage from a different vehicle and is believed to have happened at the same time in the early hours of November 26. “In the video, the suspects target a victim who was walking in the bus lane. The unsuspecting victim is struck from behind and flies over the hood of the car.”
After a video of the incidents was shown, nearby residents were horrified at the complete disregard for the welfare of others shown.
“It almost seems like they like to think it's a joke or they're doing it for fun, which is pretty horrifying,” Ethan Gunnel he said KIRO 7. “It sure is horrible.”
“I don't know what kind of person would think it's fun to hit people,” he said.
Similarly, Ellen Throneberry expressed, “It's horrible, and like I don't know, I've had this creepy thought in the back of my head like somebody's wild and said, 'I'm going to run this girl over.' “
Another individual who told KIRO 7 he had lived on Aurora Avenue for decades expressed concern that the victims could have been people he knew. “I have people I haven't seen in days, I'm worried if this was one of them.”
Detectives were said to have reviewed call logs, hospital admissions and canvassed the area for witnesses without success. Meanwhile, Washington state reported another apparent hit-and-run that resulted in a fatality Sunday morning. KIRO 7 detailed that “Detectives were seeking witnesses to a 'vehicle-versus-person fatality' that happened on State Route 3 in Finn Hill in the dark hours of Sunday morning.”
Commenting on the broader implications, one user reacted to X, lamenting a common theme in blue states and blue cities with brazen crime policies, “Dang… It's almost like they don't fear any repercussions.”
dang . . It's almost like they don't fear any repercussions.
