Senator John Kennedy was shocked by the FBI's complete lack of interest in pursuing Jeffrey Epstein's clients.
Kennedy raised the late Epstein and his former girlfriend, Ghislaine Maxwell, who is currently incarcerated. “We know that Jeffrey Epstein, who is now dead, and Ms. Maxwell, his associate who is in prison, were involved in a conspiracy to traffic in minors. So were the others. It has been widely reported. What is the FBI doing to investigate the other people involved in Jeffrey Epstein's sex trafficking rings? Senator Kennedy asked.
Director Wray responded that he was “not sure” he could confirm any specific person.
“He videotaped sex acts with prominent people… do you have those tapes?” Kennedy followed. “A lawsuit was filed here yesterday against one of these prominent people by one of the young women being sex-trafficked, she allegedly said she was part of the ring… I just want to know if these prominent people are above the law?”
Wray said the Bureau devoted significant resources to the investigation, but claimed that he, the FBI chief, did not know whether he was allowed to say whether it was still ongoing or not.
Kennedy reminded him of reports of Epstein recording underage clients lists of famous people associated with the financier were released earlier this year.
“I just want to know if these prominent people are above the law and not being investigated, or are they being investigated by the FBI?” Kennedy asked further after reminding Wray of recent reports of Epstein recording his clients with minors and publishing lists of known people associated with Epstein.
Wray responded, reciting the Biden administration's new favorite cliché before digressing further, that “no one is above the law, number one.” Except for Epstein's associates.
