“Mind-popping” interviews found students similarly tripping up resigned University of Pennsylvania president Liz Magill over anti-Semitism, says reporter Sara Carter.

As the debate turned strange over the continuing positions of authority by Harvard University President Dr. Claudine Gay and MIT President Dr. Sally Kornbluth, the president of University of Pennsylvania Liz Magill had resigned from her post but kept her professorship in the wake of the controversial congressional hearing. batch witness
On Monday, investigative reporter Sara Carter traveled to the UPenn campus in Philadelphia and spoke with students to get a sense of how they felt after their Ivy League leader and his peers were caught by their own intersectional barriers to not reporting anti-Semitism on campus after Hamas attacks Israel. on October 7.
“A lot of students I talked to today, Sean, didn't know how to answer the same question, and a lot of them equated calls for genocide as someone else's opinion,” Carter told the Fox host News, Sean Hannity.
In one clip, a young woman spoke about the difficulty of answering questions from New York Rep. Elise Stefanik (R) about the rhetoric calling for the genocide of the Jews as she told the reporter, “Just because they're so scrutinized in a national level, I think right now and whatever they say, there's probably going to be a lot of commentary on that. So I think it was difficult for them to respond, although I don't think it should have been.”
Another sympathized while stating that the question should have been easily answered: “Even though her position is difficult, the question itself was not that difficult to answer.”
“I hope people won't be violent,” said another student who said, “My personal position, obviously, on genocide is against it, but I'm not going to force anyone with my political views.”
“Sean, I have to tell you, it was kind of mind-blowing when you hear people who can't stand up and say that genocide of any group of people is wrong and they would hesitate in those answers,” Carter reported. which played a clip of a neutral-afflicted young man who said of himself, “I don't really feel qualified to answer,” when there were “clearly heated opinions on both sides . . .”
“But I have to tell you this,” the reporter added, “this is not an anomaly.”
“This is the reason why so many people are standing up and speaking out and calling for the removal of the leadership of MIT, Harvard and, we saw what happened here at the University of Pennsylvania with Liz Magill,” he concluded as the position soft of presidents whose inability to call dances and strikes had permeated academia even in the halls of what was once considered the pinnacle of education and discourse.
Indeed, as with Magill, who had not been expelled from campus, Gay was supported by Harvard's governing body in a letter that he stated in part, “As members of the Harvard Corporation, today we reaffirm our support for President Gay's continued leadership of Harvard University. Our extensive deliberations affirm our confidence that President Gay is the right leader to help our community heal and to address the serious social issues we face.”
