Robin Williams' children reflect on his legacy [VIDEO]

It's been ten years since the world lost Robin Williams, a beloved comedian and actor whose infectious energy and profound depth touched the lives of millions.

On August 11, 2014, Williams committed suicide at her home in Paradise Cay, California, after a long battle with anxiety, depression and the early stages of Parkinson's disease. An autopsy later revealed he had Lewy body dementia, a condition that profoundly affects thinking, movement and mood.

As this year marked the decade since his death, his children, Zak and Zelda Williams, took to social media to honor their father and continue his legacy of compassion and humor.

Robin's son Zak Williams, 41, shared a touching tribute to his father on Instagram. Next to a photo of Robin in his iconic role as Mork from the ABC sitcom “Mork & Mindy,” Zak expressed the deep love and admiration he still feels for his father.

“Dad, it's hard to believe it's been 10 years,” Zak wrote. His words echoed the sentiments of many who are still feeling the loss of the legendary actor. Reflecting on his father's life, Zak continued: “Today I am reflecting on the immense love you shared with all of us – your family, your friends and everyone you met. You continue to inspire me every day to do anything I can to help create a more connected and loving world for our family.”

Robin Williams' legacy is not only one of laughter and joy, but also of deep empathy and love. Throughout his career, he was known for his ability to connect with people on a personal level, whether through his stand-up comedy, his performances in films such as “Good Will Hunting” and ” Dead Poets Society” or his many charitable endeavors.

This ability to touch hearts extended beyond the screen to his role as father to Zak, Zelda and Cody.

Zak's tribute highlighted not only the impact his father had on the world, but also the personal inspiration Robin continues to provide. In the years since his father's death, Zak has become an advocate for mental health, channeling his own experiences to help others.

He serves on the advisory board of Inseparable, an organization dedicated to improving mental health care in the United States. Zak has been outspoken about the importance of mental health awareness and the need for better support systems, sharing that his own healing journey involves mental health-related service work and lifestyle maintenance healthy

Zak's sister Zelda Williams also took to social media on the anniversary of her father's death.

While he didn't share a tribute, he did make an important correction about the misinformation about his father. A viral post on X (formerly Twitter) showed a photo of Robin with the monkey Crystal, his co-star in the “Night at the Museum” films, falsely claiming that the image was one of the last photos taken of him and that the monkey was his pet.

Zelda quickly debunked the post, stating, “It's come to my attention that some AI-written BS like this is going viral. Dad didn't have a pet monkey, NOBODY should, and if never be tempted, support your local exotic animal rescues.”

Zelda's response reflects her protective nature in the face of her father's memory and her commitment to setting things straight. Both she and Zak have worked tirelessly to ensure that their father's legacy is honored in a way that aligns with their values and beliefs.

Zelda, a filmmaker and actress in her own right, has also spoken out about mental health issues, often speaking about the importance of seeking help and the impact of suicide on those left behind.

The death of Robin Williams was a profound loss, not only to his family, but to the world. However, in the decade since, her children have shown remarkable strength and resilience, channeling their pain into defense and service.

Through their work, Zak and Zelda continue to keep their father's spirit alive, promoting causes close to his heart and ensuring that his legacy of kindness, humor and love lives on.

As Zak poignantly said in his tribute, Robin Williams continues to inspire not only his family, but many others who were touched by his life and work.

The world may have lost a shining star, but the light that Robin Williams brought to the world continues to shine through the lives of the people he loved and the people he inspired.
