The already slim possibility of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. of getting the presidency has just had another blow. A New York judge ruled Monday that the independent candidate will not appear on the state ballot after he was caught using a false New York address on his nomination petitions. Despite Kennedy's claim, he has reportedly been living comfortably in California Fox News.
Judge Christina L. Ryba was tight-lipped in her 34-page ruling, ruling that the 70-year-old Kennedy's alleged New York residence was not a “Bona bona fide and legitimate residence, but only a 'false' address which he assumed for the purpose of maintaining his voter registration.” He rented a room in Westchester County just to keep his voter registration alive and advance his political ambitions. The judge made it clear that this move was nothing less than a sham, leading to the cancellation of the petition.

Kennedy's attempt to play both sides, claiming a New York address while residing across the country with his wife, actress Cheryl Hines, was criticized by the judge. Ryba stated: “Using a friend's address for political and voting purposes, even though he barely sets foot on the premises, does not amount to residency under the Electoral Act. To hold otherwise would set a dangerous precedent and open the It leads to the fraud and bad politics that the Electoral Law's residency rules were designed to prevent.” Evidence showed that Kennedy was in the habit of asking for addresses from friends and family just to keep his voter registration in New York while his real life unfolded in California.
In a recent Ipsos poll, Kennedy is polling around 5% in key states like Michigan, Pennsylvania and Georgia, but this ruling could further erode any support he had.
Clear Choice Action, a political hound, wasted no time calling out Kennedy. They stated, “Kennedy's team will undoubtedly file desperate lawsuit after desperate lawsuit in the coming days and weeks; they will fail, and that won't change the simple truth: He lied, and he's being held accountable.”
The ruling calls to mind other independent candidates who have shaken presidential elections in the past, such as Ross Perot in 1992, George Wallace in 1968 and Theodore Roosevelt in 1912. But unlike those figures, Kennedy's candidacy appears to be fading away the background
