Ten retired FBI directors and counterintelligence experts have sent an ominous letter to House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Presidents from both the House and Senate committees, warning that “the United States faces new and imminent danger” thanks to President Biden's failure to secure the southern border with Mexico.
According to former FBI directors, America is in “uncharted” territory.
“The threat we call today is new and unknown,” they wrote. “In its modern history, the United States has never experienced a homeland invasion, and yet one is now unfolding.”

“Military-age men from around the world, many from countries or regions not friendly to the United States, are landing in waves on our soil by the thousands, not splashing ashore from a ship or jumping into parachutes from a plane, but on foot through a plane. border that has been accurately advertised to the world as largely unprotected with easy access,” they wrote.
“It would be difficult to overstate the danger posed by the presence within our borders of what is comparatively a multi-division army of single young adult men from hostile nations and regions whose background, intent or allegiance is completely unknown,” they stated. . “They include individuals found by border officials and then possibly released into the country, along with the surprisingly high estimate of 'leaks,' meaning those who have entered and escaped attention.”
“There have been more than 1.7 million reported fugitives who have entered illegally and evaded capture since Biden took office, most of whom are military-age men.” The Center Square reports “They are among the more than 10 million illegal border crossers who have entered the country from January 1, 2021 through September 30, 2023.”
“In light of such a daunting and unprecedented penetration by uninvited foreign actors, it is reasonable to state that the country has a dramatically diminished national security at this time,” the former FBI directors noted. “The nation's military and laws and other natural protective barriers that have provided traditional security in the past have been thoroughly circumvented over the past three years.”
They stressed that a terrorist attack on American soil is now “a distinct possibility,” especially given the savage attack on Israeli civilians by Hamas terrorists on October 7.
“Those of us who have fought terrorism know that, historically, successful terrorist attacks invite mimicry,” they told congressional leaders. “We also know that terrorist leaders intentionally cultivate crowds of young men who possess a certain type of personality that is easily manipulated to commit atrocities.”
“It's hard to say,” they continued, “but to have a large number of young men now within our borders who could begin attacking gatherings of unarmed citizens, in imitation of 7/10 and at the behest of a foreign terrorist group , must be considered as a different possibility.”
“It would be remiss not to call out this potentially serious threat in the most direct terms,” they added. “Warning lights are flashing.”
“Any violation of the nation's immigration laws increases the risks, but the increase in the number of single men of military age descending on American cities and towns is alarming and dangerous,” the retired directors said. “Furthermore, they come not only from regions linked to terror, but also from China and Russia: hostile adversaries of the US with aspirations to devastate the national infrastructure.”
“For these reasons, elements of this recent increase are likely not accidents or coincidences,” the former feds argued. “These men are potential operators in what appears to be an accelerated and strategic penetration, a soft invasion, designed to gain internal access to a country that cannot be invaded militarily to inflict catastrophic damage if and when enemies deem it necessary.”
The authors of the chilling letter called for the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security and “the rest of the intelligence community” to work together to secure the border and immediately identify and deport those “young people” who have entered the country. ·legally in the US.
“The country has been invaded, an invasion that will continue as long as the nation's enemies perceive that it will be tolerated,” they wrote. “Until it is stopped, America is extraordinarily less safe and secure. Knowing all of this, it would be a shameful travesty if any horrific, preventable attack were to occur against innocent Americans or the infrastructure that keeps the nation safe and in operation”.
“The retired FBI officials who sounded the alarm served seven US presidents and four FBI directors,” according to The Center Square. “They include Kevin Brock, former deputy director of intelligence and former principal deputy director of the National Counterterrorism Center; Chris Swecker, former deputy director of the FBI's Criminal Investigation Division; Timothy Healy, former director of Terrorist Screening Center; Ruben Garcia, Jr., former executive assistant director of the Criminal, Cyber, Response and Services Branch; Mark Morgan, former deputy director of training at the FBI, former acting commissioner of US Customs and Border Protection and former chief of the US Border Patrol; David Szady, former deputy director of counterintelligence; Jody Weiss, former special agent in charge of Philadelphia; David Mitchell, former special agent in charge of Milwaukee; William Gavin, former deputy director of the Division of Inspection of the FBI and Timothy McNally, former Deputy Director of the Los Angeles Division of the FBI.”
Dated January 17, the letter was written before Texas Gov. Greg Abbott invoked the insurrection clause and took matters into his own hands.
Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) called the letter “educating,” saying it “describes the chilling reality of why @POTUS's open border is a clear and present danger to America.”

“If there is a 10/7 style attack on American soil, the entire administration must be arrested,” said one user on X. “All NGOs that participated were disbanded, their assets confiscated and its board imprisoned”.

Many, however, saw the letter not as a sincere warning, but as the precursor to another authoritarian power grab against American citizens.
They are just setting the stage for the Super Patriot Act. Right by removing the “solutions” to the problems they create.

Nice of the FBI and DHS to catch up with what the rest of the country has been screaming for 3 years. Now they will say they need a bigger budget, more resources and a bigger scope of responsibility to deal with the problem they created. It's Government 101 at its best.
