Senate Judiciary Republicans on Thursday proposed measures to subpoena people associated with a left-wing group that advocates for court consolidation and reform and a consulting firm tied to Democrats, as well as members of Justice Sonia Sotomayor’s staff , according to reports.
The proposals were introduced as amendments to the motion by Illinois Democratic Senator Dick Durbin citation Billionaire Harlan Crow and conservative activist Leonard Leo as the next step in the Democrats’ ethics probe of the Supreme Court, which was scheduled for a vote Thursday that did not take place because Durbin abruptly ended the meeting. Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley also filed one amendment to name the Democratic-linked consulting firm Arabella Advisors, which provides its services to a network of left-wing dark money organizations, and its founder Eric Kessler, as well as Demand Justice attorney and two affiliated to the group.

Durbin reportedly adjourned the meeting before voting on the subpoenas for Crow and Leo because of amendments filed by Republicans.
