Republican senators denounce the immigration deal in progress; Trump calls supporters 'stupid'

-

A growing number of Republicans, including former President Donald Trump, are warning Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell not to move forward with a disastrous immigration deal.

The Democrat-friendly deal would, among other things, increase green cards by 50,000 a year, grant work permits to older children of H-1B holders, and grant immediate work permits to all illegal alien migrants released to the interior of the US, as reported. Breitbart.

Speaking with Breitbart this weekend, Senators Mike Braun, Marsha Blackburn and Tim Scott warned that the bill would only exacerbate the border crisis, not improve it.

In fact, Braun directly stated that the deal “does nothing to fix” the crisis.

Listen:

“If it was HR 2, I think that would be something that would probably make sense,” he said, referring to a GOP-friendly border bill that remains stalled in the House despite a Republican speaker.

“If it's anything else, you're just basing it on a level that the Democrats would probably be happy with in terms of the number of crossings. These are the ploys, the tricks that have been used by the politicians of the establishment for decades. We can't fall,” said the Hoosier senator,” he added.

Blackburn went a step further, warning that the bill would make it even easier for illegal alien immigrants to settle in the US.

“I've said all along that I can't support anything that legalizes illegal entry,” he said. “And that's what we see some of the Democrats really going for: They're trying to find ways to legalize illegal immigration.”

“You can't talk about border security without talking about fixing asylum, fixing the parole problem, not with the president giving up hundreds of thousands of people in the country every year,” he added.

Listen:

Speaking last, Senator Scott warned that the border crisis amounts to “the largest invasion across our southern border in American history.”

“Don't negotiate around the edges,” he said. “What's missing is trust and what President Trump brings to the table in negotiations on border security.”

“We want someone at the helm who says to the American people, I trust what they say about the border. That brings confidence and that's what we need in Washington,” he added.

Listen:

For you, Scott supported Trump by president last week.

Speaking of Trump, he has reportedly lashed out at the “stupid” deal behind the scenes.

“Trump has recently told confidants in influential conservative media and political circles that 'stupid' Republicans, especially 'RINOs' in the Senate, seem eager to hand Biden a win as he has sunk in the polls 2024, and that Republican lawmakers shouldn't do Biden any favors at this point.” rolling stone he reported last week, citing unnamed sources.

While it's always wise to be wary of anonymous sources, in this case, the sources appear to be right, because last Wednesday, Trump expressed a similar sentiment on his social media platform, Truth Social.

“I don't think we should do a border deal, not at all, unless we get EVERYTHING necessary to shut down the INVASION of millions upon millions of people, many from parts unknown, into our once great, but soon to be great country again .!” he he wrote.

“Also, I have no doubt that our wonderful Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, will only make a deal that is PERFECT AT THE BORDER. Remember, without Strong Borders and Fair Elections, we don't have a Country!!!” added.

Still, it turns out that House Speaker Mike Johnson made a less-than-perfect deal, drawing the ire of other Republicans:

As for McConnell, he and other top Senate Republicans have so far indicated they intend to move forward with the deal.

“To those who think that if President Trump wins, which I hope he does, that we can get a better deal, you won't,” Sen. Lindsey Graham told reporters last Wednesday. “You have to get 60 votes in the United States Senate.”

“To my Republican friends: To get this kind of border security without giving citizens a path is really unheard of. So if you think you're going to get a better deal next time, on the 25th, if President Trump is president, Democrats will wait a path to citizenship for that. So for my fellow Republicans, this is a historic moment to reform the border,” he added.

However, McConnell and crew face growing opposition:
