Rep. Jamaal Bowman Shares 'Creative' Ways to Distribute $14 Trillion in Reparations to All Black Americans

-

Rep. Jamaal Bowman, a member of the far-left “team,” believes all black Americans are entitled to $333,000 in reparations for slavery.

In accordance with News magazinespecifically supports federal legislation that would distribute $14 trillion in reparations to 42 million black Americans, or $333,000 per person.

Also, he has “creative” ideas about how to distribute the money.

“Who says the $14 trillion has to be paid in one go?” he asked. “It might be possible for it to pay off in 5, 10, 20 years. You can take that $333,000 and split it into monthly checks over X amount of time. There are creative ways to do the right thing and do what needs to be done.”

The fact that this payment would ruin the United States is clearly of no concern to him. Neither does the fact that there is not a single black American alive who experienced slavery.

The specific legislation he supports and has sponsored, HR 414, would also bless black people with a host of other gifts.

“The bill calls for policies that would accompany monetary awards: free university education to the nation's 107 historically black colleges and universities, funding for the National Association of Publishers and the National Association of Black Broadcasters, and the restoration of voting rights for currently or formerly incarcerated people,” according to The Journal News.

“I think incarcerated people should be able to vote,” Bowman said of the broader bill. “And I definitely think that when they come out, they should be automatically authorized.”

Fortunately, not everyone in the Democratic Party supports HR 414.

“The bill is supported by Bowman and former Bedford Supervisor MaryAnn Carr. She is challenging former Rep. Mondaire Jones for the Democratic nomination in the neighboring 17th District, now represented by Rep. Mike Lawler, R-Pearl River,” notes The Journal News.

Opposing the bill are Jones and Westchester County Executive George Latimer. However, while the two oppose the bill, they do support HR 40, which is a lightweight reparations bill that only calls for a reparations committee to study the issue, as well as an official federal apology for the slavery

“The issue of reparations deserves serious thought and dialogue, which is why I support HR 40,” Latimer said. “But HR 414 is a one-house bill with no chance of passage, so it's clearly more of a political statement than anything else.”

fair enough

In the meantime, Jones wants more studies completed before any moves are made.

“I recognize that the impacts of slavery and subsequent state-sponsored discrimination in the United States are still felt today, from the wide racial wealth gap to residential segregation and unequal educational opportunities in public schools.” he said. “As Congress seeks to level the playing field for all Americans, regardless of race, it is important to study these impacts more closely.”

As for Lawler, the Republican whom Carr and Jones seek to defeat, he is firmly against reparations simply because it makes no sense to make modern people pay for the mistakes of the past.

“Congressman Lawler strongly opposes any legislation that would require American taxpayers today to pay reparations for slavery that ended 160 years ago, and nearly 200 years ago in New York State,” said the 2024 campaign spokesperson at The Journal News.

“Aside from the $14 trillion price tag requiring massive tax or debt increases, the congressman believes this law would only lead to further division and racial resentment at a time when we need to come together as a nation.” the spokesman added. .

A large portion of the American population also opposes any form of reparations, as Bowman made clear this week (*Language notice):

The crazy thing about all of this is that Bowman honestly believes that the repairs could be paid for without raising taxes…

“When COVID was destroying us, we invested in the American people in a way that kept the economy afloat,” he said. “The government can equally invest in repairs without raising taxes on anyone.”

Looks like you forgot about that thing called inflation…
