Ramaswamy responds to Donna Brazile’s racist slur

-

Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy took a jab at former DNC Chair Donna Brazile after repeatedly mispronouncing her name and she didn’t seem to care.

The entrepreneur and 2024 GOP hopeful took to social media to respond to the insults Sunday, adding to his commentary a clip of Brazile mocking the pronunciation of his name while on “Real Time with Bill Maher” ‘HBO.

Brazile was a guest along with former Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger, who also misspelled Ramaswamy’s name, and was called out by host Bill Maher.

“I wonder what they would do if a white Republican intentionally mispronounced Donna’s name and then told her to go ‘home,'” Ramaswamy wrote to X, including the clip from the episode in which Brazile said the businessman of biotechnology of 38 years. he needs to “shut his face and go home”.

Brazile rejected Maher’s correction when he pointed out that he didn’t say the GOP hopeful’s name right during the show’s overtime segment.

“It’s Vivek,” Maher said after his comments.

“Well, whatever,” the ABC News contributor said with a snort.

“Whatever? Would you say that about other ethnicities…” Maher said before Brazile chimed in, “Is that Vivek Ramaswama? Ramaswamy?”

Maher went on to explain how to pronounce the name as the audience laughed.

“Thank you very much,” Brazile laughed. “I learn a lot coming to this program.”

“I feel like there’s something wrong with everyone refusing to learn to say their name,” Maher replied.

“I just feel like there’s a little bit of racism,” he added, prompting Brazile to reply, “There’s no racism.”

Even Kinzinger got into the name game as Maher tried to get the segment moving beyond the topic, saying, “Vivek, Vivek, I’ll say it,” as the audience laughed.

“I know we don’t like it, but, you know, just say his name right,” Maher finally told his guests and the audience. “He could be wrong. He might not be. I heard him rap and he said it rhymes with pie. That’s what the CNN audience needs to know.”

Ramaswamy’s communications director and senior adviser, Tricia McLaughlin, responded to the perceived “racism” in Brazile’s remarks.

“Reverse racism is racism. If this was a white Republican, they’d be fired and ripped apart on cable TV. Donna will probably get an ‘atta boy’ from her colleagues. Gross,” he told the Daily Mail.

Brazile’s disrespect and Ramaswamy’s response drew a lot of reactions on social media.
