“QAnon Shaman” Jacob Chansley doesn't seem so contrite these days, now that he's been released from his prison cell.
Now called the American Shaman, although he was eager to move away from the “shaman” moniker during his trial, Chansley appears to be running for Congress in Arizona. The career change comes after he was released early from a 41-month sentence for his actions on January 6, 2021. His release came after former Fox News host Tucker Carlson aired footage de Chansley being escorted through the halls of the United States Capitol by police. .
Still wearing a horned fur hat, Chansley not only attended Turning Point USA's annual AmericaFest conference in Phoenix, Arizona, but confronted U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) for not only ignoring— lo, but to allegedly “steal” his campaign platform. .
“Coward! Coward coward,” Chansley yells in the video below, as Gaetz appears to avoid him. “These are the people who represent Americans who can't even talk to Americans? I was saying my name all over the place.”
So @RepMattGaetz he doesn't care about J6ers at all!
WATCH HOW HE IGNORES ME TWICE when I ask for a picture and a chance to talk!
THEN he got on stage and talked about the plight of the J6ers, RIGHT AFTER HE INTENTIONALLY IGNORED ME and my request to talk and take a picture!

“These are big names that claim to be for the little guy who gets fucked by the big machine, but he won't talk to me,” he added.
In another clip, he accuses the Florida Republican of stealing his campaign platform by proposing an anti-corruption plan:
THIS IS WHERE I GROW @RepMattGaetz to steal MY CAMPAIGN PLATFORM after my interview on Newsmax on November 13, shortly after, he proposed “his Anti-Corruption Plan” THESE 3 main ideas of MY CAMPAIGN PLATFORM!
I think I knew I would ask her about it! COWARDICE!!! pic.twitter.com/UAfDJQOuCz— Jake Angeli-Chansley (@AmericaShaman) December 18, 2023
In another tweet that suggests Chansley may be stalking the GOP lawmaker at the event, he makes both charges:
I will see @RepMattGaetz IGNORE ME INTENTIONALLY AND WALK THE OTHER WAY WHEN YOU SEE ME ASKING FOR A MOMENT OF YOUR TIME!
He's either AFRAID I'll call him out for stealing my campaign platform OR HE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THE PLACEMENT OF THE J6ers!!!
Neither looks good for @RepMattGaetz pic.twitter.com/mgxhfoBbln— Jake Angeli-Chansley (@AmericaShaman) December 18, 2023
Gaetz's office provided Newsweek with a statement from the congressman explaining that Chansley is running against Republicans in Arizona — he's running as a libertarian — and wanted to avoid the appearance of endorsing him.
“Sometimes people running for office look for a photo with me to use in their campaigns,” Gaetz wrote. “Mr. Chansley is running for Congress against the Republicans and does not have my support. I didn't want to confuse my supporters in this district.”
While some on social media were quick to use the story to pounce on Gaetz, others felt Chansley was his own worst enemy here.
Here's a sample of some of the responses, as seen on X:
With all due respect, Jake, if you weren't wearing your hat and dressed differently, he probably would have taken the time to talk to you and your audience. Chances are, he and his staff don't have time to add potential drama to what they already have on their plate.

Jake, I'm a space host and I've been avoiding you because of all the shenanigans. I would like to talk to you about this and your journey with Shamen medicine. I'm the guy in space who told you to stop stealing medicine from my people. I am actually very curious to know how…

Well, Jack, I appreciate your voice, but sometimes if you're trying to talk to a member of Congress, it's better not to dress like you are. If you had looked a little different, I probably would have. Not here to get mad, but you have to look at things from where…

Gaetz knows that a photo with you would be used against him by political opponents.

TBH, that look is hurting you right now.
You probably should have dressed and acted more professionally.
