Princess of Wales Kate has sent a heartfelt birthday message to her husband Prince William as he celebrates his 42nd birthday. The touching tribute was accompanied by a photo of William, happily in the air, holding hands with his three children on a beach. The snap, captured by Kate herself, was taken in Norfolk last month.
Earlier in the day, a throwback photo of the king with a baby Prince of Wales on his lap was shared. The black-and-white picture, taken at Kensington Palace on February 1, 1983, was posted with the message “Happy Birthday to the Prince of Wales!”
The anniversary celebration comes after England's disappointing 1-1 draw against Denmark at Euro 2024. Prince William, who is the chairman of the FA, was seen with Denmark's King Frederick as the two teams they faced off in Frankfurt, Germany.
This anniversary marks the end of a challenging year for the Royal Family, with the Princess of Wales and the King battling cancer. Kate made a brief public appearance at Trooping the Color last weekend alongside William and their children. In a personal message, he shared that his recovery is progressing well, but he still has a few more months of chemotherapy treatment left.
The royal couple, who met at St Andrews University in Fife, have been married for more than eight years at Westminster Abbey in 2011. They are parents to three children: George, born in 2013, Charlotte, born in 2015 and Louis in 2018. After the Queen's death in 2022, the King announced William and Kate as the new Prince and Princess of Wales in his historic first speech.
Prince William Arthur Philip Louis of Wales was born on 21 June 1982 at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington. As the first child of the then Prince and Princess of Wales, he was born second in line to the throne.
