Polls reveal surprising career possibility for Ron DeSantis’ wife

Researchers have just made a surprising discovery in a new poll that shows Gov. Ron DeSantis’ wife, Casey, is gaining strong support to run for political office.

As Ron DeSantis campaigns for the 2024 GOP nomination for president, a new public opinion research lab at the University of North Florida poll shows his wife Casey DeSantis is leading a slate of potential Republican candidates to run for governor in 2026.

“Recently, the Public Opinion Research Lab at the University of North Florida polled about 780 registered Florida Republicans to see who the public would want to replace the author of The Courage to Be Free when he’s done his term as governor (at the latest) in 2026. While many names were thrown around, most were for one person: Casey,” the outlet noted.

Twenty-two percent of respondents want Casey DeSantis to become governor of Florida. Forty percent were undecided, but she was the only potential candidate to get the most votes. pride reported via Yahoo.

“Casey DeSantis leads in virtually every demographic except black voters. Her weakest demographic: Those polled with a college education, of whom 15% support her, while 11% support Rep. Matt Gaetz.” Florida politics reported “Other names are in the single digits, including two U.S. representatives rumored to be eyeing the state’s top job.”

“U.S. Reps. Byron Donalds and Gaetz have 9% support in the poll, followed by Attorney General Ashley Moody (6%), Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis (3%) and Lt. Gov. Jeanette Nuñez (2 Meanwhile, Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson, U.S. Rep. Michael Waltz and Miami Mayor Francis Suarez each have 1 percent support,” the news outlet said.

Casey DeSantis has clearly caught the attention of the public, pollsters and the Republican Party.

“Obviously, we’re still far from the governor’s race, and this pool of candidates will certainly change before 2026,” pollster Michael Binder told Florida Politics in an interview. “For now, it looks like Florida First Lady Casey DeSantis is an early favorite among Republican primary voters — wouldn’t it be interesting to have the DeSantises in the governor’s mansion for another 11 years.”

Earlier this year, Casey DeSantis was honored with the Statesman of the Year award. Despite rumors at the time that she might run for governor, one of her spokespeople said Puck that he had no interest in doing so.

Florida’s first lady doesn’t seem to have any goals other than helping her husband become president these days. But if he changes his mind, it seems that the door has been opened for him politically.
