Petition rises against KC Chiefs' Harrison Butker for 'harmful remarks' and 'inappropriate conduct'

-

A Change.org petition is approaching 100,000 signatures to remove Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker from the team after his graduation speech that leftists have called sexist, homophobic, anti-trans and racist.

The speech has gone viral as the NFL is struggling to distance itself from the three-time Super Bowl champion. Butker also called professed Catholic President Joe Biden “delusional” for supporting the “killing innocent babies” in his faith-fueled commencement speech at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas.

Butker, an outspoken Catholic and married father of two, congratulated the women who received their degrees at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, last weekend, saying most of them were probably more excited to get married, have kids, and stay at home to raise them, instead of establishing their careers,” he daily mail he wrote.

“Bad policies and poor leadership have negatively affected life's major issues. Things like abortion, IVF, surrogacy, euthanasia, as well as growing support for degenerate cultural values and media communication, stem from the generalization of the disorder,” Butker said in his speech.

Butker, 28, is an unabashed and proud Christian. He spoke of his values during his speech which also criticized Pride month, infuriating the left who immediately circulated the request. Notably, he received a standing ovation from the graduates and others attending the ceremony.

The petition was started on Monday. It currently stands at 99,404 signatures at the time of writing. Today alone, 75,093 people have signed it.

“The harmful remarks made by Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker during his commencement speech at Benedictine College were unacceptable. His comments were sexist, homophobic, anti-trans, anti-abortion and racist. These dehumanizing comments against LGBTQ+ people, attacks on abortion rights and racial discrimination perpetuate division and undermine human rights,” the petition states.

“These comments reinforce harmful stereotypes that threaten social progress. They create a toxic environment that hinders our collective efforts towards equality, diversity and inclusion in society. It is unacceptable for a public figure like this to use his platform to encourage harm rather than unity,” he continues.

“It is important to note that these types of discriminatory attitudes contribute significantly to social issues such as hate crimes that have increased in recent years (source: FBI Hate Crime Statistics). In addition, they can lead to an increase in mental health problems among target communities (source: American Psychological Association),” the petition added.

“We hold accountable our sports figures who must be role models to promote respect for all people, regardless of their race, gender identity or sexual orientation. We call on the management of the Kansas City Chiefs to immediately fire Harrison Butker for their inappropriate conduct,” the petition asks. “Please sign this petition if you stand with us against discrimination and believe in fostering an inclusive society where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.”

NFL DEI chief Jonathan Beane makes it clear the organization does not support Butker's comments.

“Harrison Butker spoke in a personal capacity. His views are not those of the NFL as an organization. The NFL is steadfast in our commitment to inclusion, which only makes our league stronger,” he insisted. Beane according to the daily mail.

“Former Kansas City Commissioner Judge Horn also slammed Butker in a social media post, writing, “Harrison Butker does not represent Kansas City and never has. Kansas City has always been a place that welcomes, affirms and embraces members of our LGBTQ+ community,” noted the Daily Mail.

It's unclear if the famous kicker has anything to worry about. Many Americans support what he said in his speech, as well as his Christian point of view.
