Peter McCormick, sentenced to prison for heinous crimes

In a shocking case of child sex abuse, 66-year-old Peter McCormick has been jailed for five years for his horrific crimes against four young boys. The abuse, which took place over nearly two decades from 1978 to 1997, saw McCormick exploit boys who were under 13 at the time.

The first victim was lured to McCormick's home in Stirling in 1978, where she was given cannabis and alcohol. After falling asleep, the boy woke up to find himself being abused by McCormick. A similar pattern followed with the second victim, who was given cigarettes and alcohol during a sleepover at McCormick's house. The third victim was also given alcohol and encouraged to continue drinking, only to wake up to McCormick's abuse.

Between 1994 and 1997, McCormick took advantage of his fourth victim, who remembered McCormick being nice to him and buying him candy. The abuse escalated from asking inappropriate questions and showing her pornography to sexual abuse. The abuse took place at McCormick's home and elsewhere over two years.

Scotland's high court prosecutor for sex crimes, Katrina Parkes, praised the victims for their courage in coming forward and reporting McCormick. He claimed McCormick had manipulated and exploited the children in a “disgusting campaign of abuse” and would now face the consequences of his actions.

McCormick pleaded guilty to four charges at the High Court in Glasgow in May and was sentenced on Monday. Along with his prison sentence, he has been placed on the sex offenders' register indefinitely. Detective Constable Ian Philip, of the Forth Valley Public Protection Unit, urged anyone affected by these crimes to report them. He added that McCormick's conviction was a direct result of the victims' bravery in reporting the crimes and hoped the sentence would provide them with some comfort as they try to move forward with their lives.
