In light of Chuck Schumer’s recent decision to allow inappropriate casual dress in the Senate, many have found ways to poke fun at the situation. Of course, Peter Doocy found an absolutely brilliant way to do this with press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.
Doocy made a rather humorous quip, asking if Biden will now wear shorts and a hoodie. This was an obvious jab at Sen. John Fetterman, who wore outrageously inappropriate clothing on the Senate floor.
“There’s a new relaxed standard in town. Would President Biden ever show up to an official meeting in shorts and a hoodie?” he asked with a smile.
“You have… have… I assume you’re talking about the Senate when you say ‘relaxed standards,'” Jean-Pierre replied with a half-smile and a laugh.
“He was in the Senate a long time,” Doocy noted, referring to Biden.
“I know, but I’m just…” he tried to answer.
“He was the president of the Senate,” Doocy noted.
“I just want to make sure we’re clear on what you’re talking about here,” the press secretary said, dancing around the subject.
“Do you think these are the right changes?” Doocy asked, cutting to the chase.
“You … you know the president. You’ve seen him. You’ve seen him in the past: as vice president, as senator. He, he dresses better than most of us here,” he said with a laugh. “And so, I’ll leave it at that.”
“I’m not going to comment on how the Senate conducts its business and the decision they’ve made. That is, that’s up to them,” he added, avoiding a direct answer as usual.
“And then…” Doocy began.
“That’s not for us to decide,” the press secretary replied, dismissing Doocy.
Honestly, this decision to allow our Senate to wear the kind of clothes you see at your local Walmart is just the cherry on top of this clown show of a presidency.
