In a recent interview with Fox News, Vice President Mike Pence made it clear that he believes there are “better choices” than Donald Trump for the 2024 Presidential election. Pence also said that he believes entitlement cuts should be “on the table” as a way to reduce the national debt.
As a stalwart member of the Republican Party, I applaud the Vice President for his willingness to put forward ideas for fiscal responsibility. Entitlement reform has been a long-standing issue for the party and it is refreshing to see a leader like Pence willing to take a stand on the issue.
At the same time, I am concerned about the Vice President’s comments about the 2024 election. While I understand that the Vice President is likely attempting to remain neutral in the upcoming election, I believe that Donald Trump should be given the chance to compete for the Republican nomination in 2024. After all, President Trump has been a leader in conservative policy, from reducing taxes and regulations to appointing conservative judges to the Supreme Court.
Trump’s White House administration has accomplished a great deal in the past four years. From the passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act to the signing of the USMCA, the Trump White House has been focused on enacting pro-growth policies that have helped to spur economic growth and create jobs. In addition, the Trump administration has taken a strong stance on immigration, renegotiating trade deals, and foreign policy.
Overall, Vice President Pence is right to suggest that the Republican Party should consider entitlement reform, but I believe that Donald Trump should remain a viable candidate for the 2024 Presidential election. Trump’s White House administration has achieved a great deal and deserves the chance to continue its work.
