The opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics in Paris has sparked a firestorm of backlash over its inclusion of images of drag queens representing religious and historical figures.

Amidst the usual procession of countries participating in the Olympic Games, the ceremony featured performances that many found offensive.

In particular, one act featured a headless Marie Antoinette, the last queen before her execution during the French Revolution, wearing drag-style makeup and brandishing a severed head.

In addition, a recent display depicted a group of performers, incorporating drag queens and a plus-sized woman wearing a halo crown, in a parody of “The Last Supper,” a renowned painting by Renaissance artist Leonardo da Vinci, who portrays Christ and his apostles.

Condemnation of the ceremony came from world-renowned political figures, particularly those in American politics, who denounced the performance as emblematic of the decline of Western civilization.

“Men in wigs front and center at the Olympics,” OutKick's Riley Gaines shared on social media. “No one told me again that this group is 'oppressed' or 'marginalized' again.”

Elon Musk, the visionary behind Tesla and the X platform, slammed the display, calling it “extremely disrespectful to Christians”.

NFL football player Harrison Butker, known for his outspokenness about his Catholic faith, cited scripture to censure the show, citing, “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked. For whoever sows in the his flesh will also reap corruption. But he who sows to the spirit will reap eternal life.” Galatians 6:7-8

Equally appalled, ex-transgender influencer Oli London described the scene, stating: “The Olympics are openly mocking Jesus' Last Supper as drag queens dressed as women play the role of disciples while a woman of large appears in the middle symbolizing Jesus with a giant crown.
