A new report addressed the 25th amendment threats and that the former president may have been involved in wanting to “have control over who would be elected,” with “Kamala's approval.”
For nearly six days during which he had suspended his re-election campaign, the American people did not see President Joe Biden. As the White House physician provided updates on the treatment of COVID, a new report by investigative reporter Seymour Hersh lent credence to claims of a campaign coup as he detailed how former President Barack Obama was 'deeply involved' in changing the ticket.
Writing to his web sitethe Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist who covered the Vietnam War, Watergate, Abu Ghraib and more explained, “I spent [reports] this week with a senior Washington official who helped me craft a narrative of a White House in total disarray.”
After Biden's abrupt exit from Nevada on July 17, Hersh's report suggested that Vice President Kamala Harris agreed with Biden to drop out of the race or be forced out of office. He also detailed that a senior Washington official had said that a call from Obama to Biden over breakfast the day before he left included the statement: “Here's the deal. We have Kamala's approval to invoke the 25th Amendment.”

The vice president, who has since become the Democratic Party's presumptive nominee, wasn't the only high-ranking official implicated in the report, as the reporter also suggested Senate Leader Chuck Schumer ( D-NY), House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) and California Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D) participated.
It had been previously reported that Schumer and Pelosi had behaved akin to the “good cop, bad cop” routine and the latter suggested they had “made it clear they could do it the easy way or the hard way.”
On the same day that Obama reportedly called Biden with the ultimatum, former President Donald Trump and his running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance, sat down with Fox News host Jesse Watters, where they met. agreed with the idea that the Democrats were working on a coup against their incumbent.
Delivering the keynote address at the Bitcoin Conference 2024 in Nashville, the GOP frontrunner on Saturday added more weight to the claim that Biden had been pressured out of the campaign as he told the audience: “He's losing the fight. He's down 15, 16 and 17. They say, 'You're not going to win, Joe.'

“He said, 'I'm not going to get away with it.' [They] he said you will go out He said, 'I'm not going to get away with it. I got 14 million votes. I won't get away with it. They said, “If you don't get out of it, we're going to institute the 25th Amendment on your mental competency.” Trump continued his account of events before rounding out the account with a laugh-out-loud delivery, saying, “Like I said before, I think I'm going to get away with it.”
“Well? And they took him out. But it's like, think about it, you fight … you're campaigning. You spend a lot of money, a lot of time, a lot of effort. And he's losing. And then they say, let's take him out of the fight. We're going to put a new fighter in. She's the new fighter,” the president said, referring to Harris. “Probably my second choice. He will always be my first choice, but she would be my second choice.”
Meanwhile, Hersh's report led others to believe Harris' days at the top of the ticket were numbered, including County Highway Editor-in-Chief Walter Kim, who reiterated his view that the vice president was a contender replacement and wrote: “Dubbing this after Seymour Hersh. reported that Harris' candidacy is on trial. I didn't know that three days ago, but I had a hunch. I guess we'll see.”

Noting that Obama had been slow to endorse Harris, Hersh reported: “[Obama] he had an agenda and he wanted to see it through to the end, and he wanted to have control over who would be elected.”
