Notorious January 6 rioter Ray Epps is scheduled to finally be sentenced next week for “engaging in criminal conduct,” but his longtime critics are still not happy.
In a sentencing memo filed last Tuesday, federal prosecutors asked that Epps spend only half a year behind bars according to his documented participation in the riot of January 6, 2021.
“Epps attended Trump's speech that day near the White House, where the president insisted he had been robbed of the election and encouraged his supporters to 'fight like hell' and go to the Capitol,” according to to say. HuffPost.
“Epps himself encouraged people to go to the Capitol, where he joined a group that fought police officers on the Capitol grounds as they made their way to the building. Video from the night before shows Epps saying he thought people should go all the way in.”
In response to news of Epps' upcoming sentencing, GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy cried foul, suggesting in a tweet that he deserved to be hit with much harsher charges considering all he had done.
Look at:
FACT #6: Ray Epps, who was caught *on camera* telling people to enter the Capitol building, was placed on the FBI's “Most Wanted” list immediately after the 6 in January, but was then suddenly removed. Three years later, the U.S. government slapped Epps with a single “disorderly conduct”… https://t.co/e0wcTW40c5

“TRUTH #6: Ray Epps, who was caught *on camera* telling people to enter the Capitol building, was placed on the FBI's 'Most Wanted' list immediately after the January 6, but then it was suddenly removed,” he wrote.
“Three years later, the US government slapped Epps with a single charge of 'disorderly conduct' (0-6 months in prison). #EntrapmentDay”
Many on the right have long accused Epps of being a federal informant or insider of some sort who had directed people to the Capitol on Jan. 6 to facilitate the now-famous riot.
The federal government's original insistence on not prosecuting Epps and presenting him as a some kind of victim helped contribute to this so-called “conspiracy”.
Still, even now, with Epps finally being held accountable to some extent, many on the right remain firmly convinced that he's a fed, especially in light of the relatively light sentence he's about to receive with other mutineers.
Look at:
acted on behalf of governments. It's a FED and we all know it.

It was obviously a Fed or a plant. That's why Christopher Wray refused to answer when asked how many feds were on the ground on January 6

I guess the feds went to Rayray and said something like “look bro, we gotta charge you with something to get them off your back, cop the misdemeanor charges and we'll add another story to your house” .

The only logical explanation is that he was a state actor and the @TheJusticeDept they were in it. It's clearly a pretty foolish entrapment attempt. And now they have announced that they are going after non-violent people who have not entered the building.

Ray Epps is a Fed. There is no other explanation for his behavior and the preferential treatment he received from the J6 committee and the DOJ.
A 69-year-old grandmother with cancer received substantially worse treatment for waving an American flag.

Note what one critic wrote: “And now they've announced that they're going after nonviolent people who didn't enter the building.”
This is also true. U.S. Attorney Matthew Graves announced late last week that federal prosecutors will now target people who had been peacefully protesting outside the U.S. Capitol during the unrest.

Graves' announcement drew a fierce response from Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.
“They're going to go after innocent people who never even went to the Capitol, who had no idea the lines they crossed at the Capitol because the American taxpayers are paying, not prosecuting more than 60% of the crimes every day in DC.” he tweeted on Saturday.
“These are the 'defenders' of democracy. If only my colleagues in the GOP would care to help me stop this,” he added.

They are going to prosecute innocent people who never even went to the Capitol, who had no idea the lines they crossed on Capitol grounds paid for by American taxpayers, without prosecuting over 60% of the daily crimes in DC.
These are the “defenders” of democracy.
