The porous southern border wasn’t the only sovereignty concern President Joe Biden failed to address, as illegal crossings from Canada saw a “staggering” increase representing dozens of countries.
Sensational images of the US-Mexico border undoubtedly highlight the ineptitude of the current administration’s management of the ongoing invasion of America. However, as surprising as the tens of thousands of people clamoring to cross the Grand River has been the more than fivefold increase in apprehensions from nearly 80 different countries making the trek from their neighbors to the north .
On Tuesday, Chief Patrol Agent Robert Garcia of the U.S. Border Patrol’s Swanton Sector broke down the data that marks fiscal year 2023 for the region comprising the 295-mile stretch of land where Canada faced New Hampshire, New York and Vermont.

By comparison, there were only 1,000 arrests in FY22 and a paltry 365 in FY21, and even those numbers exceed the volume of crossings that occurred across the entire US-Canada border .
Border Patrol data indicated there had been a total of 189,402 encounters in FY23, nearly double the 109,535 in FY22 and roughly seven times the 27,000 encounters in FY22 21. All of these numbers were easily eclipsed by the 2.4 million encounters. southern border, but the more than 5,000 miles to the north do not receive nearly as many resources to deal with the crossings.
