No right to privacy: Europol and UK Crime Agency target encryption calls for back doors | louder.news

What is more commonly known as the “politicization of institutions” in authoritarian societies is today a dizzying but steady progress in some countries/blocs that would not have been suspected of such things until relatively recently.

Here we have Europol (the EU's law enforcement agency) and those supposedly 'detached' from the EU's shenanigans through Brexit in the UK, but are they? – and this country's National Crime Agency (NCA), are teaming up to attack Meta for dozens and dozens of reasonable reasons, but for the one thing the company seems to be trying to do right.

And that is to implement in their products end-to-end encryption (E2EE), the much-needed and irreplaceable software backbone of a safe and secure Internet for all. Yet this is what many governments, and here we see the EU through Europol, and the UK, continue to try to do wrong.
