New body cam shows chaotic scene before and after Trump's shooter dies [VIDEOS]

Police body camera footage obtained by Fox News shows two Butler Township Police Department officers attempting to intercept Thomas Matthew Crooks on a rooftop moments before he allegedly attempted to assassinate former President Trump at a campaign rally last month.

The video captures officers' unsuccessful efforts to stop Crooks before he fired his DPMS AR-15 rifle, striking former President Trump in the ear, killing Corey Comparatore and injuring two others.

One of the officers can be heard saying, “F– so close, bro. Dude, he turned on me,” in the body camera video released Thursday.

Footage shows one officer lifting another officer onto the roof where Crooks was standing, about 12 feet off the ground. Crooks pointed his gun at the officer climbing the building before losing his grip and falling approximately eight feet to the ground, spraining his ankle, Butler Township Manager Thomas Knights said.

The video then shows Crooks surrounded by officers after being fatally shot by counter snipers.

Another officer can be heard saying, “I'm f—— p—ed. We couldn't find him.”

According to Butler Township PD Lt. Matthew Pearson, the officer on the roof was unable to remove the weapon while hanging from the building.

Seconds later, Crooks fired his gun, hitting Trump's right ear. Corey Comparatore, a heroic protest attendee who protected his family from danger, tragically lost his life during the incident.
