Nearly half a million Massachusetts residents struggle with English proficiency

A new report out of Massachusetts claims that more than 480,000 residents, or 10 percent of the state's workforce, are not proficient in English, and somehow they don't seem to have a clue why.

The answer, of course, lies in open borders and illegal immigration. The report was published by MassInc and UMass Donahue on Wednesday. He also says that the number of 480,000 they came up with could be an underestimate, which is almost certainly the case. The numbers came from 2022 census estimates.

The Boston Herald reports that the lack of English-speaking workers presents “another challenge for an economy that continues to lose many taxpayers to other states with lower taxes and lower costs of living.”

The coddling of those who break the law by entering the country illegally and demanding handouts, as well as excessive taxes and crumbling regulations, is due to progressive leadership in the deep blue state. It's not hard to figure out why people are fleeing the state.

You can add that they are here illegally, have zero skills, are being supported by the taxpayer. Education funds are being diverted to the children of illegals. Community centers are responsible for hosting them. Too bad fake news has been silent for 3 1/2 years about this.

“The report urges state officials to accommodate the growing number of immigrants who could 'contribute their full potential to the social and economic vitality of the Commonwealth.'” The report also states that if state officials expanded LEP skills at a proficiency level, could generate $3 billion in additional annual earnings for local economies.” Fox News reported

“Therefore, due to the influx of migrants, there is an urgent need to expand access to 'English for Speakers of Other Languages' (ESOL) services,” the outlet added.

It should be noted that migrants have been coming to the US legally since the country was born. Upon arrival, they usually set out to learn English on their own, without help from the federal government.

“Nearly two decades later, additional investment to increase access to ESOL is more critical than ever. Because while Massachusetts has developed many creative models for providing these services, state and federal ESO spending has not kept pace of the growth of our foreign-born population,” the report states, without mentioning the fact that many illegal immigrants have no desire to learn. Period of English or equivalent.

Gov. Maura Healey is feeling the heat in her state over illegal immigration and announced Tuesday that she would implement new restrictions, putting Massachusetts families first when it comes to services.

The state has been flooded with illegal immigrants and the cost of housing and food is straining resources to the breaking point.

“Our administration has taken important steps over the past year to make the system more sustainable and help families leave shelters for stable housing. But as Congress continues to fail to act on immigration reform, we must make more changes,” Governor Healey said in a statement, placing the blame squarely on Republicans when it lies squarely with President Biden and his administration.

“Healey announced last month that he had sent members of his administration to the Texas border, citing a 'record' number of migrants arriving in Boston,” Fox News noted.

“Officials will make connections with federal agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and migrant families” to educate them about the lack of availability of shelter in Massachusetts, the outlet added.

The whining from blue states comes after governors from red states like Texas and Florida decided to share the wealth as Biden opened the borders, letting in millions of illegal immigrants. Many do not speak English and there are criminals and terrorists in the mix. too. As they were transported and bussed to the blue states, the scream could be heard across the country.

Instead of demanding that the president secure the border, left-leaning governors and mayors continue to blame Republicans and demand ever-increasing amounts of federal funding to manage the problem. This will not manage the situation any more than throwing billions into the homeless crisis.

Leftists also want expedited work permits so illegal immigrants can find work, filling the designated spot in the lower class and presumably voting Democrat from here on out.
