Mocking primary rivals came at the expense of corporate media, as one network reportedly demanded a presidential campaign take down a misleading video.
While supporters of former President Donald Trump had expressed displeasure over the use of artificial intelligence in campaign materials, supporters of the Republican figure put aside their qualms when it came to 'tear up the rest of the field. Now, weeks after a senior adviser to the former president shared a parody ahead of the third GOP debate, NBC News wanted it taken down. reported traffic lights
In the short video shared by Chris LaCivita on X with the caption: “Now that's a report! Watch till the end!” where he labeled NBC News, unaltered footage of correspondent Garrett Haake was shown leading to a fake voiceover.
“This is Ron DeSantis – an establishment RINO who wears insoles in his boots to make himself look taller,” the narrator could be heard saying as the Florida governor was shown.
“And this is Nikki Haley — nobody gives a shit about Nikki Haley,” the voice continued, referring to the former United Nations ambassador.

“This guy,” the voiceover said as South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott appeared on the screen, “is probably just a prankster.”
“Who the hell invited this guy!?” exclaimed the narrator as former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie was shown before businessman Vivek Ramaswamy was shown as the voiceover said, “And this guy's probably just delivering pizzas.”
“Nobody cares about these RINO debates anyway, especially when you know Donald Trump is going to kick ass tonight,” the audio concluded before a montage of Trump dancing with the Village People played.
Hours later, LaCivita had captioned her own post with the warning: “To keep @NBCNews Lawyers out of my ** please note…THIS IS A PARODY!”

Reflecting on the potential legal ramifications Trump could face with the video, George Washington University Law School professor Jonathan Turley he opined“NBC could have a case for damages.”
“If the videotape was made by (or at the behest of) the Trump campaign, it could find itself in a suit for damages. If it's just a post, there might be greater defenses to sharing a video that has brought attention to the campaign, even though NBC could still claim that the Trump campaign is replicating the violations,” he suggested after summarizing the video's content.
“The most obvious harm is false light,” argued Turley.
“Under a false light claim,” the professor wrote, “a person can sue when a post or image implies something that is both highly offensive and false. Where defamation is about false statements, false light is about implications false”.
Ultimately, as the legal scholar lamented, “The problem for victims of false light is that it is becoming easier for independent actors to use artificial intelligence and other means to produce these videotapes. It then becomes difficult to track down the culprits. This can leave a gap in accountability.”
“NBC has a valid objection to this parody even without a lawsuit. The campaign can make a lot of criticism against opponents without using this reporter in a fake news clip. It should be pulled,” he concluded.
How it had been reported Earlier this year, there had been backlash against the DeSantis campaign after an ad ran detailing Trump's repeated glowing remarks about then-director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Dr. Anthony Fauci, and his decision not to fire the bureaucrat for the use of artificial intelligence generated. images of the president and Fauci hugging. Another ad used AI to generate Trump's voice by reading his own social media posts.
Semafor said a spokesperson for NBCUniversal declined to comment on the matter.
