It has been revealed that the trans school shooter Audrey Hale he wrote in it magazine about a romantic desire for “brown girls” and referred to herself as a “white nothing.” Halewho murdered three children and three adults at Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee on March 27, 2023, repeatedly suggested that her life was meaningless and that no one would remember her when she died.
These are just the latest findings in Hale's private writings, which were discovered by investigators after the shooting and later obtained by the Tennessee Star through a Freedom of Information Act request. They have helped expose what the killer was thinking in the months leading up to the horrific attack.
According to the star, on February 7 Hale wrote “white nothingness” in capital letters in his journal, adding arrows pointing to a paragraph in which he discussed his life. “My parents are not rich,” he wrote. “They work hard for money, so I didn't end up homeless. I still feel bad though.” Further down the page, the word “brain” was connected to ideas of white privilege and shame, with Hale referring to herself as a “nobody.”
In one entry, she wrote: “No brown girls, no love. I'm nothing. Brown love is the prettiest kind.” He wrote repeatedly about Sydney Sims, a former black classmate who died in 2022, suggesting the two might be together in the afterlife.
“White Nothing” appeared elsewhere, once at the end of a rant about how he believed, “No one will think my life meant anything after I die.” After suggesting that no one would notice if he wasn't gone, Hale signed the entry with the name Aiden, which he had chosen after identifying as transgender.
In one part of the diary, Hale said he was “nothing” and declared that he was the “unhappiest boy in the world”, adding: “I won't do any good to love any girl if I don't have what they need: a body of boy / gender male”.
