Elon Musk's remark about a “fact-checking system” on social media sparked a lot of discussion about X.
The Tesla and SpaceX CEO noted concern that the Notes portion of X's community would become a “Karen magnet” in an exchange that began with a suggestion he noticed in Microsoft Word.
“Microsoft Word now scolds you if you use words that aren't 'included'!” He wrote
The post was checked with reader context explaining: “This feature has been available in Microsoft Word since at least 2020 and must be turned on manually.”

Musk called out participants from what used to be Birdwatch, scolding that they “shouldn't use information on a company's website as the primary source of truth about their products.”

This prompted a response from a user who said to the owner of X: “Elon, Community Notes is quickly becoming the 'Karen room' for people who have an endless supply of axes to grind, and they grind infinitely small”.
Naturally, this sparked many other opinions.
It's only Karen's room when community notes do something you don't agree with. I really hate hypocrisy

Musk answered himself.
“This is a concern. Any fact-checking system is going to be a Karen magnet to some extent,” he wrote with laughing emojis.

Musk's take on the “Karen” situation sent the serious discussion to the side for a while as X users chimed in.
Elon Musk wryly observes that attempts to verify the truth inevitably attract persistent complaints, comparing them to the stereotype of a troubled person named Karen.

Why don't you change the name to “Karen Community”?

It's great to see users complaining that they've gotten the community noticed, that they're turning to Karens.

The Romans had a phrase for this problem: “quis kareniet ipsos karenes?” Which roughly translates to “who will the Karen themselves be the Karen?”

Elon, maybe we should give Karen her own “Can I speak to the manager?” button instead!

There is a little Karen inside all of us.
