Since the October 7th Hamas terrorist attacks, all major cable news networks have provided both on-the-ground and studio coverage. And while CNN’s ratings rose and Fox News soared, MSNBC’s ratings took a big dip.
According to Nielsen Media Research, MSNBC saw a 33% drop in primetime and a 24% drop in overall audience. These ratings reflect the dates of October 7-10 and are compared to the previous week’s ratings.
In stark contrast are Fox News, which saw a 42 percent increase in total viewers, and CNN, which saw a 17 percent increase.
MSNBC typically doesn’t do as well as CNN and Fox when it comes to major foreign stories. The network has also faced some criticism, like the New York Post positionson its coverage the conflict.
Host of NewsNation and owner of Mediaite Dan Abrams hit the net for their coverage, accusing the hosts Ayman Mohyeldin, Mehdi Hassani Ali Velshi to blame the political decisions of Israel and the United States and to focus on the Palestinians, away from the Israelis victimized by Hamas.
Meanwhile, NewsNation saw its ratings increase by 48 percent.
