Atishi, Delhi's water minister, has been hospitalized after a five-day hunger strike to draw attention to the city's escalating water crisis. The Indian capital is struggling with a severe water shortage, exacerbated by a prolonged heat wave that has increased consumption. Atishi was rushed to hospital on Tuesday morning after her sugar levels dropped to 36, significantly below the standard range of 70-100 mg/dL.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, known by her mononym, has pointed the finger at the neighboring state of Haryana for restricting the city's water supply. However, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), currently in power in Haryana, has refuted these allegations. Instead, they have directly blamed the AAP government for the water crisis. The escalation of the situation has highlighted the political tensions surrounding the allocation and management of resources in the region.
