A social science professor at Michigan Technological University has reportedly been replaced by trash-talking conservative students.
As previously reported, members of the school’s Young America’s Foundation (YAF) built and then tore down a mock Berlin Wall earlier this month to commemorate the 34th anniversary of the wall’s fall.

Afterwards, the university professor Dr. Carl Blair was caught on audio talking trash to students who had attended the parties.
“For those who didn’t know [YAF’s Freedom Week activism project], good For those of you who were aware, they were childish, stupid, homophobic, stupid and racist. This is the polite version,” he said.
“Because there are, without a doubt, certain faculty members who expect … that students will be censured for this. Because then they can come out and say and pretend, “Oh, we’re victims, you’re restricting our, you know, freedom of speech, we should have, we have a constitutional right to be insulting and violent and threatening.” How dare you restrict our speech?’” he added in a mocking tone.
“Strictly speaking, they are right. They did not target a single student, only groups. It was wrong, it was tacky, it’s not illegal, what they did. Stupid, uncollegiate, in very bad taste, and this shows what a bunch of ying yangs they are. You know, it’s a shame you all have to deal with stuff like this. I wasted half the morning dealing with things like this. It’s annoying,” he continued.
“That’s not what college should be about. You know, it should be a place where you can learn, experience, do interesting things, have interesting opportunities (hint, hint, study away), instead of wasting your time and having to direct- you idiots. They’re idiots out there. Sorry, that’s life,” he concluded.

Fast forward to Thursday, when YAF published an email from Michigan Technological University President Andrew Storer defending the right to free speech and announcing that a substitute teacher has been assigned to Blair’s courses.
“As an institution with a strong research focus, Michigan Tech strongly supports free speech and academic freedom. We follow the Chicago Principles in this way. With that, we expect an atmosphere of respect and acceptance of diverse perspectives , perhaps the most important within our classrooms. We are sorry that this was not your classroom experience this week,” he wrote.
“Class tomorrow (Friday, November 17) has been cancelled, and upon returning after Thanksgiving break, we arranged for a different instructor for the rest of the semester. You will receive information from your new instructor before the first day of class after the break,” he added.
The decision drew praise from Michigan Tech YAF President Andrew Keys.
“We’re very happy that the university stands up for free speech and doesn’t back down even when professors are against it,” he said.

Many SS departments have been jokes for decades, including those at MTU. If you look at Blair and others, they are just thought leaders with chips on their shoulders. They can’t tolerate their own scientific irrelevance on a tech-centric campus, so they target the political gut. Sad.

When a YAF writer reached Blair by phone for comment, he slammed the phone down on them after telling them: “I stand by my words and I have nothing more to say to you.”
