Melinda French Gates, who divorced billionaire Bill Gates in 2021, has expressed her joy at her new lifestyle post-divorce. He recently shared his enthusiasm for his new neighborhood, where he enjoys the convenience of walking to local spots. He bought a cottage in Seattle three weeks before filing for divorce.
French Gates spent considerable time on Redfin, a real estate marketplace, to find the perfect home for his new chapter. He expressed his satisfaction with his new residence, stating: “I live in a neighborhood. Now I can walk to small shops. I can walk to the pharmacy, I can walk to a restaurant. I absolutely love it.”
The location of her new home is undisclosed, but it is known that she bought a country house in Seattle's North Broadway neighborhood before the divorce. The four-bedroom, two-bathroom home went for $1.2 million, a significant reduction from the $183 million compound she previously shared with her ex-husband.
French Gates was reportedly not a fan of the sprawling resort, which featured a 60-foot-long pool, more than 18 bathrooms and a 2,100-square-foot library. Instead, she seems to prefer the simplicity of her new life, with local shops, non-tech titan neighbors, and a house that doesn't resemble a massive theme park.
In addition to his new lifestyle, French Gates has also embarked on a new phase of his philanthropy. She stepped down as co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in May, with her resignation effective June 7.
